@AscendedSaiyaji @ABC7 Not sure what you want as facts. Report at this time say the man killed an officer while serving an eviction, cop killer continues to fire upon officers after 7+ hours of negotiating. He tells family he won't be taken alive...he got run over while shooting.

@that562 @MuleTunes @JimDunc322 @GlendaleFOP12 I'm not for a bunch of government involvement, most things they touch are slow, outdated and not run well but I know what you mean. Like you said, need to wait to hear back story on why he was being evicted, his own mental state but the fact is, he destroyed another mans family.

@MuleTunes @MickeyBFree @JimDunc322 @GlendaleFOP12 I don’t think death is ok period there should be more government involvement with helping the people before they go into evection instead of helping the banks kick old ppl out, this isn’t the first old man to do it remember that guy that had cancer and went into debt.

@ergonautas @CBSNews I'm sorry to hear you say that. Things must have happened in your own life that makes you feel that way. I can only say not all cops are bad but your own experince hasn't been good. Let's agree...kids are the ones who suffer. Sad day.

A California sheriff said the suspect who fatally shot a detective serving him an eviction notice "got what he deserved" after he was intentionally run over and killed by a Bearcat on Thursday. "You shoot at cops," Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreux said. "We're going to run you over."

@that562 @MuleTunes @JimDunc322 @GlendaleFOP12 I don't think this looks bad for cops but your are right, there is often more behind the original information. I heard Morales was a veteran and sonone wonders if he got the help he needed as a vet. And then maybe none of this would have unfolded. The fact is he killed a man.

@MickeyBFree @MuleTunes @JimDunc322 @GlendaleFOP12 Idk if it was simple sounds like a dude that spent 20 years paying off a house and couldn’t keep up taxes squatters don’t go out shooting for no reason they just find the next house. Call it what you want once people find out it’s going to make law informant look real bad

@AscendedSaiyaji @ABC7 In an active situation where the suspect is actively shooting a high powered rifle at the cops...this was the action taken to stop the 7+ hour threat where 1 was already killed.

@dickgosinyamomm @CBSNews Play the victim often? He wasn't being "kicked out" he was being served an eviction for NOT paying. This rest on Morales shoulders alone.

@MickeyBFree @CBSNews Yeah, well kicking people out of a house has consequences. A lot of emotion and anger and yet the cops think they should never be on the receiving end of it. Dumb.

60-year-old David Eric Morales ambushed Tulare County Sheriff’s deputies serving an eviction notice, killing Detective Randy Hoppert, a five-year veteran of the department. After barricading himself and opening fire on additional officers, Morales was ultimately struck and killed by a Kern County SWAT armored vehicle. At a press conference, Sheriff Mike Boudreaux confirmed the vehicle was used intentionally, stating, “We intentionally ran him over… Don’t shoot at cops.” 🔥 One deputy lost his life. Law enforcement says the threat was stopped. Prayers for Detective Hoppert’s family and the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office. 🙏🏾

@LisaRamsey7432 @DavidJHarrisJr The cop killer was actively shooting a high powered rifle at the cops when he got run over. As the Sheriff stated...if you shoot at cops, you're gonna get run over. He is stating a fact and warning other criminals.

🚨BREAKING: Gunman who shot detective dead is 'intentionally' run over and killed by sheriff's deputy: 'He got what he deserved'. Porterville, CA – April 9, 2026 Tulare County sheriff's deputies were serving an eviction notice on 59-year-old David Eric Morales when he ambushed them with a high-powered rifle, killing Detective Randy Hoppert, 35. Hoppert, a six-year veteran and former Navy corpsman, was a father whose wife is four months pregnant. After an nearly eight-hour standoff in which Morales barricaded himself, fired at officers, and shot down a drone, a Kern County SWAT BearCat armored vehicle intentionally ran him over while he was prone on the ground and still shooting. He was not shot by police. Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux said bluntly: “We intentionally ran him over. Don’t shoot at cops. You shoot at cops, we’re going to run you over. He got run over. He got what he deserved.” He added that Morales “chose this ending.” Morales had no prior criminal record. Detective Hoppert was rushed to the hospital but died from his injuries. Prayers for Detective Hoppert’s family and all law enforcement on the front lines!

@ishaconde @ABC7 I support the Sherrif 100% but I do agree, maybe this all could have been avoided if the Veteran had gotten some help. Not all of them want help but we fail our Veterans all too often.

PORTERVILLE, CALIFORNIA (CA): A Tulare County Sheriff's deputy (a detective) was shot and killed during an active shooting in Porterville earlier today (Thursday, April 9). Authorities say a suspect opened fire in what they are calling an ambush, leading to an exchange of gunfire. The deputy was struck during the shooting, rushed from the scene, and later pronounced dead at the hospital around 11:20 a.m. The suspect, identified as 59 year old David Morales, was armed with a high-powered rifle and had barricaded himself inside a residence. He hadn't paid rent in 35 days and was expecting authorities/law enforcement to attend. Morales is now dead - he was run over by a police Bearcats vehicle. SWAT and Porterville law enforcement were on the scene along with a large emergency presence - they had surrounded the area and were using drones and a helicopter to search for the suspect. There are multiple schools in this area that are/were on lockdown.
