If I could spell out one thing more explicitly in the essay, it would be this: a lot of the men who have been passed over at work for the last 30+ years have wives and families. When you systematically discriminate against men in the job market for 30 years (not to mention all the other unfair benefits I get into that take from single-income families to solve dual-income problems), there are a lot of women facing financial “choices” that look less like choice and more like the two-income trap. Would every woman who wants to be able to stay home while her children were young without this? Probably not. Robots etc. But how many more could?

If we eliminated the very substantial risk to his employer for hiring or promoting him instead of a woman who helps “diversity numbers”, however, it might help quite a lot. We’ve had at least 30 years of a substantial thumb on the scale against men, particularly white men, in the job market.
Nobody, including me, claimed the entire economic climate is shaped by this issue. I did claim that in some substantial ways, policy is putting a pretty big thumb on the scale. We should stop doing that and see what happens.

My 20-year-old daughter, Katie, was killed by someone unlawfully in our nation and state. No background checks. No health screenings. No job training. No assimilation support. No real safeguards for citizens.
In Illinois, and especially under J.B. Pritzker, leaders do not stand on moral high ground. They knew these policies would create victims. They accepted that cost. They were willing to sacrifice innocent lives for ideology and political power.
That is not compassion. That is negligence. And it is evil, evil toward citizens placed in harm’s way, and evil toward immigrants used as political props and then abandoned when their suffering becomes inconvenient.
While they erase the Katies of the world, they also discard immigrants whose pain does not serve the narrative. These are rulers who love humanity in the abstract, but ignore humanity in the real lives destroyed by their decisions.
