I recently had a chat with Australia’s @shellyhorton1 about the importance of mental health and menopause. 98% of women who attend our menopause clinic experience psychological symptoms of the menopause - symptoms of low mood, anxiety, panic attacks and intrusive thoughts - so it’s about time this was taken more seriously.

Only around 14% of menopausal women in the UK currently are prescribed HRT, which would be fine if only 14% of women wanted to take HRT but we know this isn’t the case. I constantly hear from so many women who aren’t being given a choice and are unable to have their HRT prescribed for them both in the UK and other countries. This is not right when we know HRT is safe and beneficial for the majority of menopausal women and the guidelines are clear it is a first line treatment to manage menopausal symptoms for most women. In areas of deprivation this number is much lower - in some areas only 2% of menopausal women are prescribed HRT and these women are more likely to be prescribed antidepressants, statins and blood pressure lowering treatments. Also they are more likely to have chronic diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, clinical depression and osteoporosis - taking HRT can reduce the incidence of these diseases as well as improving symptoms. A lot of the work I do is about giving women the confidence to be better advocates for themselves and I hope by keeping this conversation going we can help more women access the care and treatment they want and deserve.

We’ve lost quite a few followers this week for being critical of the Conservatives. But we can’t just sit back and watch them destroy the NHS. So please follow and RT if you stand with us and help us fight for better.

Everything they are doing to the NHS, they did to British Rail: • Underfunded it • Exhausted the service • Got the public angry Then said privatisation is the only solution.

RAAC and Tory race to the bottom. Gove illegally stopped the £55bn Labour govt policy to rebuild many schools. Gove lost in High Court Today former DofE civil servant said Rishi Sunak, as Chancellor, halved the budget for school repairs. Resignations? Doubtful..cos they're Tories

When people say menopause is just a natural part of being a woman and that we just need to “get on with it”, I have a problem with that because why should women suffer with any symptoms when there are evidence-based treatments available that not only relieve these symptoms but also improve future health?

Did everyone hear Nick Gibb trying to claim Labour had done nothing about the school concrete problem? Here's the truth: "Under the £55bn scheme introduced by Labour, every secondary school in England was to be either rebuilt or refurbished." Gove cancelled it. Overnight.

.@mspjmason has dug up this excellent article from when Gove cancelled the Building Schools for the Future programme. @justinmadders @CarolineLucas - do share with all your colleagues. theguardian.com/education/2011…

The Prime Minister has just posted a new video - telling us with a big fat smile on his face that his plan is working. Tell that to the 14 million people now living in poverty & the kids eating out of bins! If you share my rage RT this widely

Without our trade unions & the workers willing to back them with strike action when needed we wouldn’t have a minimum wage, maternity & paternity rights, pension provision, holiday & sickness entitlements - victories which have benefited every single person in this country - no wonder the Tories hate strikes
Peter Stefanovic@PeterStefanovi2

250,000 views in an hour & suddenly deleted! We cannot allow a single worker to be sacked for defending their pay and conditions - the entire trade union movement must rally behind any worker sacked for exercising their fundamental right to strike. THIS MUST END NOW!
