FYI those that try to have snacks on hand for their students should they need something extra, the Amazon poptarts are apparently “better than the regular ones” and like 1.50$ a box. Just saying #teachertwitter

@TolentinoTeach I tell my 2nd graders the same thing I told my 8th graders... Do it right, or do it over!... This includes, holes on the right side, proper heading, and legibility... 8yrs old or 8th grade... neatness counts!

As part of my “back to basics” focus next year, I’m bringing back something simple but important: Handwriting legibility. If I can’t read it, I can’t grade it.

We do have a trailer of donations from local businesses- but its mostly for when you have a new student mid year who shows up with their arms swinging because their supplies got left at their last school. There is not enough in there for a teacher to get a class set of anything Some years we get some money to spend on academic resources- its never over $200 and 1 magnetic letter set etc. can be $50 or a supplementary daily grammar wkbk is $20 per student. So while it's appreciated its a drop in the bucket.

May I ask a serious question? We are all trying to get basic supplies, books, decor, extra curriculum supplies for our classroom. What does your school actually give you? Copy paper is available for us until it runs out for the year.

I agree that the best teachers aren’t always the best administrators. But the worst teachers are NEVER good administrators.

@DTWillingham I would also say we undervalue the old adage "try, try and try again". The amount of k-8 teachers who complain the kids can't cut, or use a dicyor learn their lunch numbers so they do it for them instead of taking a week to teach/practice the skill.. smh

@Skinnyteacher1 Do you know if there is anything on Canva where students can move their numbers so I can do hot lunch and attendance at the same time? If I use slides, it can’t be in presentation mode, which is annoying!

I may not always be able to help financially, but I can create resources and share them for free. One thing I’ve learned about myself is that I can take a simple idea and run with it. I have a very creative mind, and with tools like Canva, I can turn one small idea into something fun, useful, and ready for the classroom. Honestly, I’ve been doing this since my first year of teaching almost 20 years ago. From Colonial Days to zombie apocalypse activities, I’ve always loved creating things that get students interested and engaged. So if you need something specific created, let me know. I would be happy to help when I can. It’s my way of giving back during the Clear the List movement, or just giving back in general. 💛

Here's my fav breakfast dish.. i bring it to every brunch, school potluck or Morning Bible Study Lol. Hashbrown casserole: 1 bag southern style potatoes (dice or shredded) 1 breakfast sausage roll, 1 can of cream chicken (or mushroom) 1 pint sour cream 10 oz cheddar cheese 1 stick melted butter Optional: chopped peppers and/or onion Brown the sausage and drain the oil. In a baking dish combine the sausage, potatoes and sour cream, cheese and soup. Add melted butter to the top layer but dont mix in. Bake in oven for at least 45 mins on 400. Perfect recipe to make ahead, then bake when needed.
