Necton Forest School

A busy creative time in Forest Club. Making rope obstacle courses in the trees, planting saplings to add to our site. And a wonderful find of an old one penny coin, dated 1928, sparking curiosity about how someone lost it and our site's history.

@NectonY1 had a visit from Delilah Dragon this week, she needed their help with making vegetable stew. Following on from their class book "Herb the vegetarian dragon" we peeled, chopped and cooked some stew to sit and enjoy together.

The sunshine continued for more pancakes with our afterschool club. Climbing and swinging, then enjoying some communal time with conversations about spring in between mouthfuls of yummy pancakes.

@NectonY1 had great fun in the glorious sunshine, eating yummy pancakes, rolling playdough pancakes and creating recycled pancakes with cardboard and items from the forest. A wonderfully relaxed afternoon enjoying each others ideas and conversation.

A welcome return to our Forest club after our half-term break. Teamwork with giggles and problem solving or chilling in the trees and hammock after a busy day in the classroom.

A wonderfully sun filled afternoon spent with @NectonY1 this week. Our site looked even more beautiful with this taste of spring. Lots of role play in this session with teams and games, climbing was big on the agenda too with real perseverance coming through.

A fire with smores to end our Forest club this term. A relaxed and creative atmosphere, reflecting on our time in this space so far. A sense of contentment runs through the group with conversations around the fire to sweet marshmallow smiles.

Great last session before our half term break. Huge amount of teamwork to rebuild and improve their den, @NectonY1 are so comfortable in this outdoor environment, they always find things to create or explore, love being a part of their world.

Back in September our Forest Club came up with values for our space. Today all these values were on display, particularly seeing the collaborative play to create one of the biggest and well thought out dens was wonderful to be a part of.

@NectonY1 reflected on the time of Imbolc, the half-way point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. We spoke about our gratitude for the rhythm of nature and our community, sharing time round the fire with crumpets to finish.

Rain certainly enhanced play this week with @NectonY1 working as teams to build shelter then creating potion mixes. A great chance to reflect on how changeable our weather is and how it doesn't need to stop the adventures .

The weather didn't dampen this wonderful groups spirit. Creativity in the mud kitchen, laughter and friendships blooming with the swing, teamwork with stone collecting and adventures in climbing, The best atmosphere to finish the day.

Forest club enjoyed creating dens, tree climbing and hot chocolate. The cooler afternoons are not stopping this amazing group from exploring and embracing the season.

We had a bird theme in the forest this week with @NectonY1, using toy birds to id the ones who might visit our forest and making some feeders for them. Teamwork was on display as a group make a bridge and then worked out which planks worked best.

Our sessions have started back, with @NectonY1 for the winter season. A great first day back, they were straight in to creating and exploring. Making a fence with forest material and then a great time investigating how flammable their castles were.

Forest club were back this week after school. Wonderful to see some new faces join us for an adventurous hour in our wonderful space. Lots of ideas and laughter, great end to a school day with the gorgeous sunset around us.

I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with Hazel Class, collecting firewood, then exploring and creating. Watching them enjoy the yummy treat and talking about how much they loved being back in the forest made for a perfect afternoon. @NectonY4

The last session for @NectonY2 group 2, adventures in climbing and swinging, followed by yummy sweetness by the fire. It's hard when something comes to an end but we gave thanks to the forest for our time spent there and new adventures we may have.

Our reflection and gratitude for nature is a key part of the Forest School ethos. @NectonY2 g1 finished off their circle time by placing an item from the forest on a stump, giving thanks by saying one thing they love about being in our site.
