I’m glad you guys mentioned this case, because here’s what actually happened regarding the Arvizo Family & Michael Jackson The Arvizos met Michael in fall 2000. The sleepover referenced by Bashir took place that year. According to the prosecution no abuse ever occurred until 3 years later after the bashir interview’s backlash over sleepovers inspired Michael to abuse the Arvizo children during a period he’s under criminal investigation for sexual abuse before deciding to abuse them at Neverland while he’s under investigation and in Miami They met again in 2002 for the documentary and shortly after the broadcast. The Arvizos willingly defended Jackson 5-7 times to law enforcement during multiple investigations after the documentary and willingly traveled in and out of Neverland. This investigation took place before the prosecution claims the “abuse” even began, meaning they defended him for free. Between February 14–27, 2003, the Arvizo family was under investigation in California due to claims of potential abuse after the Martin Bashir interview. The case was closed after being ruled unfounded. From February 21 to March 2, Michael Jackson was in Miami, Florida, with his family. He returned home on March 2, stayed two days, then left Neverland for another week at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. He stayed at Neverland March 9–12. The Arvizo family permanently left the ranch and cut all contact on March 12. The alleged abuse was claimed to have taken place February 14–27, later revised after Sneddon saw Jackson’s alibis to February 21–March 10. However, the abuse allegedly occurred only at Neverland Ranch in California. Michael was in Miami from February 21 to March 2 and away from the ranch again March 5–9. Meaning there was 1-4 days in the entire period where he was at Neverland with them While Michael was in Miami Florida for over a week the Arvizos were in California roaming freely in and out of Neverland with no NDA or any legally binding contract preventing them from going to the police, instead they returned to Neverland to great Michael the moment he flew back home from Miami Michael Jackson recorded a documentary countering the Bashir interview shortly after it’s release before the alleged abuse period begun yet he didn’t pay money for the Arvizos to include their testimony defending him even though clearing his name was the entire point of the work in the first place There’s also a issue of claiming Michael Jackson paid a family to defend him regarding sexual abuse claims before deciding to sexually abuse them. The investigation was closed shut during the spring after no evidence surfaced, and Michael was indicted in november 2003. You may wonder how he could be arrested if the case is closed, well it’s because another Bashir documentary & the arvizos changing their story, that’s 10 months after the abuse allegedly took place and 8-9 months after they abandoned all contact Sneddon seized all financial records hoping for a paper trail to silence “victims” (failed), digital files hoping for illegal child material (failed). He opened a hotline begging for victims to come forward (nobody did). He allowed tabloid hearsay testimonies to be tried and retried from 1993 through June Chandler and attempted to get Jordan to testify. All of this failed, and they couldn’t provide any evidence across every possible sexual abuse or child endangerment charge. If you believe their testimony, then congratulations you are retarded

Scary as fuck. Fuck that pedophile and everyone who defends him

His relentless hard work, his obsession with perfection was also missing from the movie. The Ed Sullivan show not being in it is also baffling. Also:Jafaar learnt the moves of Motown25,practiced til he bled and it's a 20sec seizure-inducing snippet,I'd be raging if I was him😅

Wish the #Michaelmovie went into the media's perverse obsession with MJ and the extreme lies that started around Thriller... there was a LOT that was left out and/or rushed. They certainly didn't let anything simmer... Looking forward to how they handle the 2nd movie. 5/10 🙈

Jaafar was wildly good in #MichaelMovie I wish they’d made a better movie because you’ll never find a better Michael. Script and edit was all over the place. Not enough context given to major moments. Ending was abrupt. Using Man in the Mirror instead of Bad could’ve saved it.

@IGN Ahhh so the movie actually portraits THE REAL Michael Jackson and not the fictional character you BUILT about him. Stay mad with your delusional take cause nobody is falling for that shit.

No matter where you come down on Michael Jackson as a person, this biopic is entirely the opposite of what he was, both as an iconic performer and a controversial tabloid figure. Our review: bit.ly/4sOdSho

@ebonykiss93 Well said! But also, people need to remember that this is just a movie that MJ obviously had nothing to do with creatively, it's not "his legacy", just a product of a studio based on "he said-she said" and some re-enactments. Let's just go see it to piss off the media with success

Michael didn’t build his career by seeking validation from the media. He wasn’t constantly doing interviews, chasing appearances, or playing into systems that thrive on access and control. He moved differently—on purpose. He protected his artistry, his privacy, and his peace. And because of that, there were spaces that never fully embraced him the way they might have if he had “played the game.” That tension didn’t disappear—it lingered. We also have to remember that this is only one part of a larger story. The filmmakers have taken years to research and tell his life with intention, and what we’re seeing now is not the full picture. There is more to come. As fans, we don’t have to let a percentage score shape how we feel about his legacy—or even this film. Michael’s life, his contributions, and the truth of who he was are far too layered and meaningful to be reduced to a number. So let’s not be led by public opinion or negativity. Let’s stay grounded in truth, in discernment, and in the love we have for the impact Michael made. His light didn’t come from critics—and it certainly doesn’t dim because of them.

I know a lot of us are feeling disappointed and even frustrated seeing the early ratings for the Michael biopic. It’s hard, especially when you love someone whose artistry, impact, and legacy mean so much to you. But I want to gently remind us of something: Michael Jackson’s greatness was never defined by critics, headlines, or approval from the media. His story has always existed beyond that. From the very beginning, there were expectations placed on him—limits on what he was “supposed” to become. A former child star. A nostalgic figure of the past. But Michael didn’t stay in that box. He broke it completely. He redefined music, performance, creativity, and global influence in a way the world had never seen before. And with that kind of unprecedented success often comes resistance.

@PopBase Rotten Tomatoes 🤣 nobody gives a shit about their critics anymore in today's social media world, word of mouth is still the most powerful PR. RT has zero weight, most ACTUAL critics known this for decades
