When I first got exposure into the world of e-commerce a few years ago, I knew it was a matter of time until I launched my own product. I remember talking with a seller on Amazon that was making $10M a year selling plastic RAT TRAPS...yes rat traps and trust me I was just as shocked as you probably are.
My biggest problem was I wanted to find something I was actually passionate about and I would simply never be excited to get out of bed selling something like a rodent trap or any cheap product imported from China for that matter.
So I asked myself “What is something I am picky about when it comes to purchasing it for myself?”
And there was really only one thing that came to mind....
Clothes.
There are a 3 checkboxes that I want to be met before I consider a purchase and very rarely can I confidently check off all 3 but when I happen to, I’ll buy like 5 of the exact same item. So here’s what I look for:
☑️: Fit (I have an athletic build so I like to find a balance between being fitted and not looking like I’m trying to squeeze into a toddler’s shirt)
☑️: Design (I’ve always liked simple or clean designs as evidenced by my collection of plain black and white tees.
☑️: Price (I have no problem spending a little extra on something I like but you’ll never catch me spending $150+ on a shirt or pants...not knocking anybody that does)
This brings us to the purpose of this post.
The past few months have been a lot of research, outreach and laying groundwork but I'm excited to announce I'll be launching my own performance apparel company called Forebear.
My goal is to live at the intersection of style, function and affordability. Will I be there right away? Most certainly not but I'm confident with the feedback from my friends, family and customers, we'll get there!
So why Forebear?
Forebear means ancestor.
Most of us discover at a young age if sport and activity are something we're going to be passionate about.
And many times behind those kids are parents who lift them up with love, encouragement, honesty, and unrelenting support. Same goes with their parents before them. That's what Forebear is all about. "Legacy in Motion"
It is my ultimate goal and dream that this company will be my lasting legacy.
The plan is to have the first run of my "Contrast Polo" available for order in mid 2025.
Orders will be made through shopforebear.com (Working on getting Forebear.com but the individual squatting on the domain has ensured that won't be easy or cheap)
If you made it through this whole post and are interested in following along the journey, I am documenting everything from trademark establishment to manufacturing and logistics in full transparency on Threads. @theforebear" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">threads.net/@theforebear
And lastly if you want to take it one step further, follow both the Facebook and Instagram pages here: (It's quiet now but I promise there will be a lot more being shared in the near future)
