12-year-old Jada West moved to Villa Rica, Georgia with her parents looking for a better life. Her family says that after starting at her new school in January, she faced months of bullying. On March 5, Jada got into an argument with another girl on the school bus that turned into a fight near her bus stop; after she walked away from the fight, she collapsed on her way home, her heart stopped, and she later died in the hospital from her injuries. A video of that fight is now circulating, but her family has asked that it not be shared out of respect for Jada and their grief. We are closely monitoring this case and stand with her mother, who reminded us that our community has forgotten how to love.
