🇵🇸 SNP “Palestine” activist lawyer Lara Bird makes a mockery of her oath🤞

Utterly disgraceful & disrespectful behaviour from the new SNP MP for Arbroath & Broughty Ferry. She added a preamble to the loyal oath indicating she didn’t accept it, then read the actual words holding up crossed fingers, presumably to signify she didn’t believe it. Awful.

New SNP MP Lara Bird took the oath of allegiance to King Charles in the House of Commons and appeared to cross her fingers while doing it. That is not a protest. It is contempt. Contempt for Parliament. Contempt for her office. Contempt for the constitution. This was an anti-British, anti-Unionist stunt from an MP who wants the privileges of Westminster while sneering at the very country that sent her there. She is entitled to oppose the monarchy. She is entitled to support Scottish independence. But if her first act in Parliament is to treat the oath of office like a childish loophole, the public has every right to ask: If the oath means nothing, what else is optional ?

✍️ I have tabled EDM 378, recognising that Scotland voted overwhelmingly to remain in the EU and that Brexit has damaged our economy, security and international standing. Scotland’s future should be decided by the people who live here!
