@ProfAtchison @NatStephen @AccessibleGEO We had to go rogue and do our own livestream for an award winner who was not able to travel to the session held in their honor. Told it was too expensive to have live-streamed sessions. Heard from multiple people they were disappointed by the lack of hybrid options.

Really great to see @NatStephen and be a part of #GSA2023. I'm curious though, how many more would have had the opportunity to participate if the hybrid option were still available? Science must be accessible and inclusive. @AccessibleGEO

And this is so much broader than just disability access.

Is the decision really just about money? Targeted sponsorships and fundraising for access and inclusion...? @geosociety @theAGU @EuroGeosciences we would welcome a conversation.

In her #Uncharted essay Jennifer L. Piatek nicely describes opportunities & costs of disability. I love how @squawky points out that the glorification of independence in geoscience is at odds with the more inclusive interdependent culture of care within disabled communities.💯
