The most insane take from last night is pretending Sean Strickland put up any defense on the ground Khamzat took him down at will & Strickland couldn’t defend a takedown or get up until Khamzat just quit wrestling & pulled guard bc he had to make the fight competitive Strickland’s TD defense & striking looked the worse it’s looked in his career. It was obvious who was the better fighter The UFC is threatening to Mokaev guys if they use a wrestling heavy approach & it’s clear they desperately want American champions for their bottom line With all that being said even though Khamzat was robbed brutally he looked like trash in there too

@JedKMeshew It isn’t very complicated. It was certainly a great fight, but they’re judged by rds, and clearly it was 2~2 going into 5th, and Sean snuck it out. Jab or not, by the criteria, Sean absolutely won. I’ll watch rematch tho if it happens.

Guys, I dunno what to tell you. In my opinion, snapping Sean's head back multiple times and breaking his nose is more significant than several more jabs landed. I also was pretty clear that if you think the other way, that's fine. Strickland fans are real weird. Go touch grass.

@Psychoward586 @JedKMeshew Chimaev did no damage when he took Strickland down. If you watched the fight, you wouldn’t know there were nine takedowns because he just hugged Strickland and he got back up, other than first round which was clearly Chimaev even though he did no damage.

@JedKMeshew I think sometimes fans (and possibly judges) default to giving the striker the round any time they avoid being taken down by a grappler without even really considering what else happened in the round. I had 3 rounds for Sean as well but would've been fine with either result

@JedKMeshew Sean clearly had the 2nd, 3rd and barely the 5th round. This was a good decision by the judges. If they called a draw somehow, it’s whatever.

I watched the UFC last night and honestly, if you rewatch the 1st round closely, Khamzat Chimaev had Sean Strickland done. He even had the choke, then suddenly let it go. Something felt off to me. No disrespect to Strickland, but it looked like he couldn’t hang with Chimaev even for one full round. Go watch that 1st round again carefully. For me, Chimaev is the real champ already. Kinda feel bad for him, makes me wonder what was going on behind the scenes. Look at his face, he is looking at someone gor confirmation but looks like he got rejection. @KChimaev real Champ ✊🏻
