The problem is not Sol Ruca. The problem is NXT’s incredibly flawed system that doesn’t properly prepare the ground up PC-trained people to be main roster wrestlers that work a road schedule and have to work matches often on short notice and don’t get a ton of rehearsal time. It’s the problem with a developmental show having to also be a television program. Shawn and co are having to teach, while having their students do what’s needed to entertain and sustain a TV product, which repeatedly puts them in position to do things they shouldn’t be doing at their stage of development, and this creates the habit of memorizing complicated matches. You don’t get the space and time to memorize things when you’re on RAW/SD though. You get to tv and find out your match hours ahead of the show and walk through it with an agent and are expected to execute because you’re expected to know how to work. To know how to work, you have to have reps. These Nxt wrestlers wrestle 20-40 times a year. Comparatively, the OVW/FCW generation would wrestle four times as much a year. Reps are irreplaceable.

They won’t do it because no one books with courage anymore in wrestling but they should go all the way with this Maya World run. #AEWCollision

This isn't just a match for the Undisputed WWE Championship, it's a battle for hope. Anyone winning other than Sami Zayn is equivalent to a straight-up confession of creative impotence, laziness, and a lack of balls to take risks. This is a fight between the corporate-chosen golden boy, the booker's favorite, and a regular guy who busted his ass just as hard as the rest of them but never got the opportunity to hold the top gold. Zayn is on a roll right now, he's incredible, and he saved the Cody and Gunther storyline. Not because the American Nightmare and the Ring General were doing a bad job, no. But because it's the typical Rhodes-as-champion story, the exact same formula, the exact same tropes. Zero creativity, we've literally already seen this. Sami made this feud interesting, the best thing in WWE right now, and that's why he absolutely deserves this title. It's logical, it's consistent, and it is TIME to do it. And if it doesn't happen, honestly, for me it will be official confirmation that they are just producing cookie-cutter, safe content now, instead of the art that wrestling has always been. It will mean that they are the ones choosing who you're supposed to root for. And if you dare to root for someone else, well, good luck, buddy - you and your favorite aren't getting anywhere anyway.

Last night's #SmackDown - specifically the main event - completely killed all hope. Jey Uso didn't win because he's more talented or just a bigger star than everyone else; he won because some asshole or two backstage happens to like him more than the rest. The guy has a catchy theme song and a stupid catchphrase - now shut up, eat it up, and enjoy. F*ck ring work, mic skills, charisma, variety, or storyline consistency. "Because we said so." This isn’t just about one match or one winner. This is a clear signal that nothing is going to change. Everyone loves it, everything works perfectly, we don’t need any changes. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve been this disappointed in a long time.

Spurs keep allowing these runs that catches up with them at the end of these games. Knicks finish the half on a 22-9 run. They do this is every game and hang around until the end of the 4th. Spurs continue to lack that killer instinct and offense still a mess. #NBAFinals
