Bill Veeck's son Mike came up with the promotion - bring a disco record, get into the doubleheader against the Tigers for 98 cents. They expected 20,000 fans. Nearly 50,000 showed up. Thousands more were turned away. Between games, Dahl detonated a crate full of disco records in center field. The explosion tore a hole in the outfield grass and the crowd lost its mind. Thousands of fans stormed the field, tearing up the turf, setting small fires, and turning Comiskey Park into a scene no one had planned for. The field was so damaged that the White Sox had to forfeit the second game.

@granthpaulsen I’m hoping that he is referring to the basketball capacity with floor seating, and not the regular football configuration. There is a reason 15k bad seats have been removed from the upper deck in Landover.

I’ve seen many people discussing Josh Harris’ comments of a stadium with 75,000 people inside. He was referencing the capacity of our SRO and others in the house, not suggesting the stadium would seat that many. The stadium seating plans haven’t grown from what we last heard.

@PowerBoater69 @TalkNats Who are the resellers and how could they possibly turn a profit if the tickets are worth less on the open market than what a STH would pay? Aside from opening day, or a popular opponent, most seats for most games are valued below what they cost to purchase from the team.

@PowerBoater69 @TalkNats When you frequently see the same seats listed, it looks suspicious. If you could afford to buy those seats as a STH, why would you keep taking the losses on resale? Not just the Nats specifically, but all of the big four sports.

@Return2RFK @TalkNats Resale sites mirror listings on other sites, so if you list your tickets they will relist them on other sites. But if you look for tickets in popular areas, like behind the dugouts, you are buying them from other fans.

@TalkNats @PowerBoater69 I discovered the mirrored listings from the football team in Landover. The same seats would appear on multiple sites, week after week. Started to realized that no ticket holding customer would take losses like that year after year. Then the WaPo did an expose in 2009.

@TalkNats @PowerBoater69 In all major sports. Most of the seats on StubHub, SeatGeek, etc. never leave possession of the team ticket office until the consumer purchases. The listing all over the web are mirrored.

@TalkNats They have dynamic pricing, my ticket rep said that it is new this year. Prices are going up, everyone wants to see the new kid. Plus the weather will be nice, it will be packed.

Sounds like the Commanders are aiming for RFK 2.0 to have around 75,000 seats, making it compatible for future events such as the Final Four.

And it's not. even. close. SF has the view, SD has the food and vibes. But if you want the best of all worlds at a baseball game--sightlines, seating angles, views, food, proximity even in upper level, it's Pittsburgh. It's always Pittsburgh. (And I love SD and SF, to be clear)
