Voici des exemples de ce qui va changer avec le projet de loi 69 sur l'énergie, imposé par bâillon par la CAQ. ⚡️ Hydro-Québec va pouvoir accélérer son vaste plan d'action pour augmenter la production d'électricité puisqu'elle ne sera plus obligée de faire des appels d'offres, dans certains cas. ⚡️Une compagnie privée pourra maintenant vendre de l'électricité à une usine située à proximité. C'est une brèche dans le monopole d'Hydro-Québec. ⚡️La Régie de l'énergie aura moins de pouvoir pour fixer les tarifs d'électricité. Plus de pouvoir au politique ⚡️Plusieurs nouveaux coûts vont être refilés dans les tarifs des clients d'Hydro-Québec (coût des ententes avec les communautés autochtones, coûts des surplus, coûts des manques à gagner...). ⚡️Le gouvernement pourra plafonner la hausse des tarifs résidentiels à 3 %. Sans le projet de loi 69, la hausse pour les clients domestiques serait à l'inflation (actuellement moins de 2 %) ⚡️Les tarifs des clients commerciaux (PME), institutionnels (écoles, hôpitaux...) et industriels (usines) risquent de fortement augmenter, possiblement à 5 %, selon la volonté d'Hydro-Québec. Sans le PL69, ils seraient eux aussi à l'inflation. #polqc #assnat

At his request, I met with Prime Minister Mark Carney @MarkJCarney today. We had a very frank discussion in which I made it clear that Albertans will no longer tolerate the way we've been treated by the federal Liberals over the past 10 years. I provided a specific list of demands the next Prime Minister, regardless of who that is, must address within the first six months of their term to avoid an unprecedented national unity crisis. This includes: • Guaranteeing Alberta full access to oil and gas corridors to the north, east, and west • Repealing Bill C-69 (aka. “no new pipelines act”) • Lifting the tanker ban off the BC coast • Eliminating the oil and gas emissions cap, which is a production cap • Scrapping the so-called Clean Electricity Regulations • Ending the prohibition on single use plastics • Abandoning the net-zero car mandate • Returning oversight of the industrial carbon tax to the provinces • Halting the federal censorship of energy companies I also made it clear that Alberta, as owner of the resource, will not accept an export tax or restriction of Alberta’s oil and gas to the United States, and that our province is no longer agreeable to subsidizing other large provinces who are fully capable of funding themselves. Lastly, I made it clear that federal mismanagement of Jasper and Banff national parks resulted in last year’s tragic wildfire in Jasper and is endangering Banff, and the situation must be rectified immediately.   With the federal election about to be called, I encourage all Albertans to get involved in what is likely one of the most pivotal and important elections in our nation’s history, and to support the party and candidates that have consistently advocated for freeing Alberta from federal overreach and the repeated economic attacks our province has faced from Ottawa over the past 10 years.

I am greatly heartened to see that U.S. President @realDonaldTrump and the Canadian Government have agreed to a plan to crack down on Fentanyl trafficking and other illegal activities at our shared border. The appointment of a Canadian fentanyl czar with authority to coordinate a massive joint effort with the United Stated to target Fentanyl traffickers is something Alberta has been calling for since it became clear in our discussions with U.S. elected representatives and administration officials that this would be a critical part of reaching a deal to avoid tariffs. Diplomacy has won the day. Let us ensure that continues as we know there is much more work ahead of us. I once again call on our federal government officials and fellow Premiers to de-escalate rhetoric, abandon any non-tariff measures for the time being, and turn our efforts entirely to advocacy and good faith negotiation. There are so many win-win solutions on trade and security between our two nations. Let us turn this crisis into an opportunity to find them for the benefit of Canadians and Americans. To this end, I am preparing to return to Washington D.C. next week with my fellow Premiers to continue our diplomatic efforts and will again return to D.C. later in the month to attend the National Governors Association.
