For me this was the only J League defender to look at back in the summer transfer window for Celtic Copenhagen paid €1.2m in July Add some UCL experience and now he's valued at €20m Crazy what happens when you get the CLEAR prospects when they're available Unearthing hidden gems is cool and all that but to overlook Suzuki at that price to get Inamura is just mental
Japanese Football@JapaneseFbl

🇩🇰🔄 Junnosuke Suzuki (22) is being monitorsed by clubs in each Top 5 European league, per @tipsbladet. FC København won’t accept less than €20 million for the defender, who they picked up from Shonan Bellmare in the summer for just €1.2m. When Suzuki is sold, he could break the Superliga transfer record 💥

@RossHScouting Absolutely. It becomes even more complex when you take into account the extreme distances in Australia/NZ.

🇨🇭 Alessandro Vogt (20) is one to keep an eye on: 💥 Thrust into a starting berth this season, he has 7 goal involvements in 5 competitive matches and with William Geubbels departing, his responsibility continues to increase. ~ 6’2, Very strong, decent turn of pace and showing killer instinct - he will be on the radar of top European clubs soon 👀 #FCSG #StGallen

@BeGriffis Are we talking here about goalkeepers involved in build up or goalkeepers playing as effectively centre backs? I’m assuming you have a number of examples so I won’t say anything to the contrary in that respect but certainly haven’t seen it myself

@RossHScouting Germany might be this biggest exception with many teams in 2. Bundesliga having done this for years. Bundesliga teams do this for a while too But it gained traction more in Japan, Finland, Denmark, US, Mexico, South Africa etc etc well before it’ll be in Premier League

Always love a chance to spread the gospel This gives me an opportunity to tweak & re-visit my GK Buildup Index Top 15 leagues where GKs are most involved in buildup, on avg, and the top 20 teams My article if you want more: cafetactiques.com/2024/01/04/goa…

@htomufc Mate I've been praying for this 10 times a day to finally come into the Premier League Can help totally suffocate opponents and pin them back. Can give numerical superiority anywhere on the pitch a team would want. Importantly, can save precious seconds when recycling/switching

@BeGriffis That’s a fair point - feel like this depends on so many factors that the success rate at most levels will inevitably be low but the attempting of this will increase as coaches with world class ball playing keepers begin to implement. Copycat tactics in essence

@RossHScouting True maybe a bad clip. But the benefit for involving the goalkeeper, especially higher up the pitch, usually is allowing a player who would have been in that position to go somewhere else to create overloads. And those overloads can change where that happen too

@BeGriffis I absolutely understand the premise of creating an overload in the defensive third to potentially open passing lanes, but goals are not scored in the defensive third and this clip in particular does not show any benefit of the goalkeepers involvement to ball progression

@BeGriffis Why is this even desirable? The clip is 40 seconds long, the attacking team don’t even get out their own half and the ball that actually releases the play is a pass out wide that could have been played at most points during the clip? I struggle to see the benefit here

This week definitely wasn’t a regular one and I was lucky enough to marry my best friend 🎉 Felt really nice to detach myself from football and social media for a few days ahead of a really busy period. I’ve had an incredible year and can’t wait to see what 2026 brings!

Same metrics as yesterday but focusing on the Scottish Championship this time round. Really well rounded numbers from Marco Rus and unbelievable passing numbers from Kyle Ure and Alfons Amade. Any names from here that surprise you?
