In 1949, a group of Rotarians in Custer, South Dakota, formed a human chain up the side of Thunderhead Mountain, passing 29 tons of lumber hand to hand to help build a staircase for a dream that was just beginning — the Crazy Horse Memorial. What started as a simple act of service became a partnership spanning generations. More than 70 years later, the club continues to support the memorial’s mission of honoring Native American culture, expanding educational opportunities, and bringing people together through understanding and community. It’s a story of vision, perseverance, and what can happen when people come together to build something bigger than themselves.

At an airport lounge, a stranger noticed an @EndPolioNow sticker on Habiba Bennani's laptop. This sparked a conversation she would never forget. The stranger shared the story of his father, who survived polio as a child and lived the rest of his life with its lasting effects.
