P.S. — shoutout to books for pushing me to cry and “excrete stress hormones” (as #DariusTheGreatIsNotOkay puts it) even when I don’t often make time for that healthy release on my own. 🤩

1/ Now that the semester is over, I finally made time to read #PatronSaintsOfNothing, which has been at the top of my list since @GOgreenGOwrite introduced me to the #DisruptTexts Guide back in January. Coming to you at 2am with my thoughts after finishing in one sitting #YA308

10/ Overall, I loved #PatronSaintsOfNothing, so much so that I decided to stay up an extra 40 minutes to tweet about it🤩. Thank you @randyribay for such a powerful and “disrupting” read—I can’t wait to check out the rest of your work!!! #YA308 #DisruptTexts

I was also really happy when Jay decided to take a gap year. This book would be great in a class of seniors preparing to navigate the world post-HS. The possibility of not going to college (right away or ever) is not normalized enough, & Jay puts it perfectly: #YA308

Check out some highlights from Team Voltron’s podcast about #FranklyInLove and Hyphenated Identities below! We’re really excited about this project🎉

@bnjmn_k_wdcck That’s so great to hear!! I’m really inspired by that. Some very impactful and worthwhile reads for sure.

@SBourgeoisENG Colleagues and I banded together to add #TheHateUGive, #DearMartin, and #Persepolis into our curriculum two years ago. Ts can choose which of the 3 to teach each year. It was a lengthy but worthwhile process to better reflect the demographics of our students.

Potential future Eng T here! I'm rly interested in the #DisruptTexts efforts to create “mirrors, windows, and sliding glass doors” (Bishop).
To all the Eng Ts out there – how have you altered your curriculum to better reflect the demographics of your own classroom? #NCTEVillage
