This is Public Service Recognition Week. It's a time set aside to honor those who serve our nation as federal, state, county & local government employees. We salute all of our #TeamSCDJJ employees for their work to serve the communities & counties in our state.

Today, May 7, is Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day. On this day, we acknowledge the importance of children's mental health and recognize its importance in promoting positive development, resiliency, and recovery for youth.

During National Social Workers Month, we recognize our fantastic social workers work so hard for our youth each day. While not every social worker is visible in this photo, we are grateful for each and every one and appreciate their dedication to the youth of SCDJJ.

During Women’s History Month, we want to recognize the 2 highest ranking positions in the agency, Executive Director & Chief of Staff. Both positions are held by dedicated women who lead SCDJJ with tenacity & care. They inspire others daily & we're thankful for their leadership.

Congratulations to the individuals who graduated from basic training with SCDJJ. The Security and Operations Basic Training Graduation was held last week.

Special thanks to Senator @TIDEVINERSD1 Tameika Issac Divine, RSC1 Board Chair Jamie Devine, and Clyde J. Gore for their presentations at the #TeamDJJ Black History Program. The words of encouragement that were shared with youth were impactful and motivational.

Ryan Bouknight, Trusted King Transportation, introduced youth at BRRC to the basics of the trucking industry. He shared his personal story, as he was once a youth at SCDJJ. After, many youths expressed a desire to pursue a potential life-changing career in the trucking industry.

Staff from the Florence County DJJ office volunteered with the Senior Citizens Assoc. of Florence at the distribution of Blessing Boxes. Food was provided to senior citizens to ensure they have a full meal at Thanksgiving. Way to go, #TeamDJJ!

We are honored the 100 Black Men of Greater Columbia and their Benedict College Collegiate Chapter have agreed to continue the DJJ Lunch Connection Youth Mentoring Program. The men meet monthly with youth at DJJ to mentor and support.

A new semester is in session! SCDJJ's school district partners with Allen University SC to provide youth with the opportunity to start their post-secondary education and earn college credits while being here at SCDJJ.
