I don’t think enough time is spent talking about the potential tradeoff of the party/candidate adopting a policy platform of alienating Israel. It’s only ever talked about in the context of lost votes for not endorsing an arms embargo, never in the context of exploring how many democrats would have similarly been turned off had that happened. Take the moral question out of the discussion entirely. It is just a straight fact that there are democratic voters who are super pro-Israel, or not anti-Israel enough to back an arms embargo, and those votes are not guaranteed to stick if Kamala had aggressively tried to court the anti-Israel crowd.

This is the Hasan strat. You are doing the thing I’m talking about. He’s not comfortable defending himself from substantive critiques, so instead he tries to discredit his critics in the eyes of his audience, who he trains like literal dogs to brigade those critics with the supposedly discrediting claims. He took an insane hypothetical not at all rooted in any kind of realistic framework, meant to demonstrate a really simple harm reduction argument, and he treated it like my position is literally “we should elect Jeffrey Epstein as a Democrat because I like Jeffrey Epstein.” Epstein was a fucking pedophile degenerate and he’s fucking dead. I obviously don’t think we should elect him. It’s wildly dishonest but he does not give a fuck, because he knows he has trained his audience to accept anything he says at face value. The shock collar he uses is him pulling up chat logs over and over of people giving even light criticisms, and then publicly banning/timing them out, humiliating them in front of the audience as a form of punishment. He’ll do this dozens of times every stream. The lesson is to never question anything he says, and if you do you will be punished and cast out of the community. I’m not even kidding when I say he is employing actual cult leader techniques and then using his cult following as weapons to try and discredit anyone who he thinks got a legit dig on him on social media. That’s all you guys are to him. Nothing more.
