Congratulations to Flying Officer Smedley and Sergeant Baker who have recently completed their “M-qual” certification to allow them to run deployed Fieldcraft exercises using pyrotechnics and blank ammunition with the Wing Fieldcraft Team. A big well done both!

This weekend nearly 30 Cadets came together from Sector One to take part in a Cadet Method of Instruction course. They learnt all about instructional technique in preparation for them teaching other Cadets. Well done all!

Massive congratulations to Flying Officer Wormald, Flying Officer Ainslie, Pilot Officer Matthews and Flight Sergeant Thompson-Ford on their achievement of a Regional Commandant North Certificate of Meritorious Service! A big well done from all across the Wing!

This weekend 26 cadets undertook weapons training on the L98 and went on the pass their weapons handling tests. Additionally, 30 cadets undertook training and passed WHTs on the L81. Well done to all those involved!

Last weekend 24 Cadets took part in the first clay shoot of the year! The day was a fantastic success, with cadets honing their skills and enjoying the challenge of this exciting activity. 🎯 Next shoot is in late February - don’t miss out - details on Cadet Portal!

South and West Yorkshire Wing will be running an ASTRA focused Camp in this coming April! The camp will involve four simultaneous courses for cadets to progress through the Progressive Training Syllabus. Check Cadet Portal for more information!

Wing Commander’s Christmas Message 2024 -

Exciting times ahead! Last week, the Wing’s Senior Leadership Team and Functional Staff gathered to finalise plans for 2025 and build an action-packed year for the Wing. With so much to look forward to, we can’t wait to see what 2025 has in store for the Wing!

A big congratulations to the 11 CFAVs who this weekend have successfully completed their Level 1 Archery Instructor training at Wing. We’re excited to see how you’ll support and inspire our cadets in their archery journey. Well done to you all! 🏹🎯

Today has seen 65 Cadets participate in a clay target shoot, which was the last one of this year! A great time was had by all! Please keep an eye on Cadet Portal for more dates in the next year!

Congratulations to CWO Ashford of 868 (Mirfield) Squadron who has achieved third place in this years RFCA Photography Competition! Her winning image was of two Cadets sat in a Kirby Cadet Glider at the National Air and Space Camp Industry Day! Well done!

Over 50 cadets had an incredible week-long camp at RAF Wittering! Highlights included a visit to the Imperial War Museum Duxford, a tour of RAF Cranwell’s College Hall, and a hands-on experience with 5001 Squadron. Huge thanks to Squadron Leader Swaine and his team for running!

🛶 Making waves! Cadets from across South & West Yorkshire Wing joined forces recently for a paddle sport session. They learnt new skills and built confidence through kayaking and canoeing. Thank you to the staff who organised and Green Star Canoe Club for hosting! #TeamSWYorks
