Saerithra II: First Day of Training Pt 2 ~Her Cherished Outfit~ After the first day of training, Saerithra found herself standing alone near the edge of the training grounds, the fading light catching along the edges of her new armor. Her fingers brushed lightly over the red mask and the dark plates that Deylith had gifted her. The armor fit perfectly. Too perfectly. As if someone had taken the time to imagine what she would look like in it. Saerithra tilted her head slightly, studying the reflection of the metal along her arm where the faint blue dragon markings curled across her skin. “…Why does this feel so strange?” she murmured. It wasn’t the armor. It wasn’t the mask. It was the feeling sitting quietly in her chest. During training she had noticed things she couldn’t quite explain. The way Kané watched her—not like a commander evaluating a recruit, but like someone making sure she was safe. Guiding her stance. Correcting her grip. Protecting without making it obvious. And Deylith… Saerithra’s eyes softened slightly. Deylith had teased her constantly, smiling with that playful confidence that made it impossible to tell when she was serious. But there had been no cruelty in it. Only warmth. Only welcome. Saerithra shifted her weight, her long fox tail swaying behind her before beginning to wag on its own. She noticed it immediately. “…Stop that,” she muttered to herself. The tail ignored her. Her chest tightened slightly. Her heart had skipped more than once that day. Not from battle. From something else entirely. Belonging. The thought frightened her more than any fight ever had. Saerithra looked back down at the armor again, fingers resting lightly over the chestplate. Why did she want to know more about Kané? Why did her presence feel… familiar? Like something she had been missing her entire life without realizing it. And Deylith… Saerithra hesitated on that thought. Her cheeks warmed slightly beneath the mask. “…Why do I want to stay?” she whispered quietly. The answer never came. Only the soft night air and the faint wagging of her tail betrayed the conflict inside her.
