@SaulStaniforth @faizashaheen Both of these things can be true. 1.) Bills going up, expensive housing and childcare costs aren't the fault of refugees. 2.) No sane country can allow an open border letting hundreds of thousands of unknown people in illegally.

.@faizashaheen: "We fixate on this issue, on stop the boats.. meanwhile our bills are going up, are housing is so expensive, our childcare costs are insane" Spot on. The rich and powerful want us angry at refugees rather than being angry at the real problem - them.

@SamwiseGamgee57 A mil for Burrows😂 who’s paying that? We would be lucky to get 500 grand for the pair.

Seen enough of Tom Cannon last season, if we get offered 500k for him I'd take it. And I'd take anything over a mil for Burrows

When people like @henrywinter and other national journos tell you "VAR is inevitable" or "here to stay"... Tell them no it isn't and it doesn't have to. We can get rid of it tomorrow and forget this soulless experiment ever happened.
Dale Johnson@DaleJohnsonBBC

Championship clubs have rejected to chance to introduce a version of VAR for next season. Football Video Support (FVS), a variation of VAR which needs fewer resources and gives each coach two reviews per game, could have been brought in from August. 👇 bbc.co.uk/sport/football…

Nearly 3 years later and he’s wasted arguably his best years playing in America and Denmark. Criminal such a good footballer has gone so under the radar

If the UK joined the US as the 51st state. We would be the poorest state in the entire union. Mississippi which is portrayed at swamp dwelling hillbillies in majority of international media is above us. I don’t think people grasp how far we’ve fallen in real terms when it comes to GDP per capita. We’ve seen no growth for almost an entire generations. We’ve seen our productivity decrease and our tax increases. The average person on the UK, on £50,000 is less well off than your average Mississippi swamp dweller.

JUST IN: New analysis reveals Brits thought the UK ranked 7th against US states in income per person — it actually ranked 51st.

@kevin_heck4113 @JackDunc1 @DominicMcGregor Do you know how averages work? Average in the UK is 31, in the US it's 11. That's 20 more valuable days spent with family and friends. Life is much more than GDP, typical Americans can't understand that

I can take days off anytime I want. In fact my job closes June 1st to August 25th and we go summer in Montana. 12 weeks off in paradise. The average American has far more wealth than you are lead to believe. Second homes or vacation homes, RV’s and multiple vehicles are pretty common for most families.

Yet that “swamp” has a higher living standard. Some places in Mississippi are beautiful and wealthy. You just have depression and stagnation. They are rising yearly where you haven’t moved your GDP in 12 years. They are quickly moving way past you. The dollar and the pound are about the same now.

Britain absolutely has a lot to learn from France’s Gaullist focus on state capacity @GElefteriu. It gets better results. 🔵 Nuclear power: 🇫🇷65% vs 🇬🇧15% ⚡ Industrial electricity: 🇫🇷£69/MWh vs 🇬🇧£168/MWh 🛣️ Motorways: 🇫🇷11,882km vs 🇬🇧3,700km 🚄 High speed rail: 🇫🇷2,800km vs 🇬🇧109km ❤️ Life expectancy: 🇫🇷85.8/80 vs 🇬🇧82.6/78.6 (women/men) 🎗️ Lung cancer survival: 🇫🇷17.3% vs 🇬🇧13.3% 🚀 Space launch: 🇫🇷sovereign heavy-lift vs 🇬🇧none ☢️ Nuclear deterrent: 🇫🇷sovereign capacity vs 🇬🇧US dependence Would be TRISTE indeed to pretend these facts are not what they are.
