A peaceful and serene sanctuary Sunday. Happy animals without a care in the world. For the humans its a time of the month when our worries become a bit overwhelming. Some of our fundraisers havent reached goals this month, or last month. Our situation is very worrying now. We are carefully budgeting but there aren't many corners left to cut. Food costs and medicines have tripled. Rents and house prices have rocketed. The infrastructure is in ruins. Our donation base has shrunk since the war ended, but nothing has improved for its animals or its people. We need you just as much as we ever did. Probably more. Soon we will reach a point of no return, and the consequences of that are unbearable to contemplate. Please, if you haven't made a donation this month will you consider it this week? A beautiful video from Ernestos. It looks so peaceful doesn't it? But Syria is still at a dangerous time and we are very worried. Fighting and civil unrest is once again threatening our existence. Food for the cats and humans is doubled in price, while our donations have dropped dramatically - with many monthly donations being cancelled. Just because the regime has gone, it doesn't mean Syria is safe. It doesn't mean Ernestos doesn't still need your help. We are a very small organisation that relies on the generosity of donors. Very soon we will have hard decisions to make. At least the cats don't have our worries. For them their days are worry free. We wish it was the same for us. At 17 years old, I gave up on becoming an actor despite then being in one of the best drama schools in the UK because 85% of the casting calls my agent received stipulated, "Caucasian's need not apply." Not "Black actors wanted" or "Latin actors wanted" but "Caucasian's need not apply." That is to say "All auditions welcome except from white people." I knew I wasn't going to get anywhere, even if I could hone my skill to a competitive level. I knew then that the stories of the near future were not going to be about the white working class or ancient Britons or knights and their princesses. Being an actor is the first job I ever wanted - from 4 years old I did nothing else. I switched for 10 years to directing. But the tide has risen higher still and I find all grants and opportunities exclusively for "BAME people." I am good at what I do. I have won awards and worked at one of the best theatres in the country. I offer insight and poetic depth with my skill. But I am white and say that men are not women and therefore merit does not enter into the calculation.

Big van from Aleppo arrived yesterday evening at Ernesto’s free vet clinic, full of cats to be treated and a donkey that needed an x-ray and urgent care. Tomorrow we return to Aleppo with our mobile ambulance to treat the animals, and we are considering going around all the Syrian provinces because we are receiving requests for help. dry food was something prohibitive for the animals, now we want to be able to distribute some first aid for these animals, they too are very affected by the situation, we need help to have large quantities, last month we were on alert because we had suspected what happened and therefore we had asked you for help to increase our reserves. well as you can see providence has been very helpful, and thanks to those reserves we were able to help Aleppo this week, but our reserves were limited for our animals, so we need to do it again, what we can ask our friends is to report our organization to the big organizations that help animals and ask them to support us, in these years we have always had a great reputation and collaboration with anyone who has helped us, providing documentation and receipts.
