Let me tell you about the greatest man on the planet. A man who walked into my life by choice when I was 8 years old and changed everything. The world was upside down. Momma working 2 and three jobs to put food on the table. Not even running heat in the house. Just me and her gathered around one little heater in the morning before school. Hard times.... And then a man showed up. He showed up and was gentle and patient and kind. He taught me things. He took the time to shoot hoops with me and showed me how to throw a spiral with a football. He taught me to shoot a gun and bow. Taught me to hunt and fish. Most importantly, he taught me how to love someone with all you have. To be quick to show love and never...(ever) show anger. To be strong enough to carry it all, but never have to raise your voice. He commanded respect from me because I saw how he carried himself. He looked you in the eyes and spoke the truth. He provided. Always. He was rock steady and calm in a world that had been chaos. He's been by my side for a lot of hurt and suffering. He's talked to me as a father when I really screwed up. He's made countless memories with me and my children, who only know him as pappaw. He has always been the greatest man he didn't have to be. He doesn't know it, but I pray that I can one day be half the man he has been to me. He means everything. I'm not his blood, but I'll forever cherish being his son... His choice changed everything for a struggling single mother and her little boy....everything. He means more to me than he will ever know. Happy Father's day.

In 2008 I sat in row 51, upper deck, Texas EZ at the Cotton Bowl for RRR... those were the cheapest seats on the secondary market. With 2 minutes left we decided to exit as it became clear OU was going to lose the game. As we decended the 50 rows of stairs, the Texas faithful threw Trash and debris at me and my frat brother. Texas Fans are absolutely "the worst"
