The fact that The Odyssey is doing well as the box office is nothing for Nolan to be proud about. It is a mere reflection of the stupidity and ignorance of modern audiences.

The first lines to the film are literally “a face, a fleet, a war, a man, a thought, a trick”.
That’s never removed from Nolan’s Odysseus, he literally draws on how he used his mind to deceive. If yall need it spelled out just watch youtube clips & save us seats next time lol.

The whole point of Odysseus is that he wins with his mind, not his sword. If the movie reduces most of his trials to just running away, it’s missing the actual character. The biggest missed opportunity is turning Odysseus into someone who reacts instead of someone who plans. The myth works because he’s smarter than the monsters, not because he outruns them. I think the rage bait complaint says it all. When a story has to manufacture cheap outrage instead of trusting the actual mythology to carry weight, that’s the writers not trusting their own source material.

39 years ago today, Palestinian artist Naji Al-Ali was assassinated by Mossad in London.
Naji was born in 1938 in the Palestinian village of Al-Shajara, between Tiberias and Nazareth and one of the more than 531 towns and villages destroyed by jews during the Nakba.
At the age of 10, he was expelled from his homeland to Lebanon in 1948.
Naji used to say that little Handala—his most famous cartoon— was a symbol of the Palestinian people and, more personally, of his stolen childhood and aborted youth.
“They tell little children to turn their backs, but I don’t turn. The boy is the age I was when I left Palestine, and he will not grow up until I return.”
“Handala was born ten years old, and he will always remain ten years old. At that age, I left my homeland. When he returns, Handala will still be ten, and only then will he begin to grow older.
