It’s funny seeing woke tourists relearning the concept of appealing to your core audience from first principles. In the West, it’s so normal for stories to focus on lecturing and talking down to the audience that it’s a foreign concept to just give them what they want. The average high school boy wants to screw over his dumb asshole gym teacher. He wants to hang out with hot babes in thigh-high boots. He wants to make stacks of cash fighting demons in a different dimension, and use them to buy illegal airsoft guns and shit. He wants to have a cute and cozy relationship with the shy NEET girl who lives a block away. He wants to bang his hot teacher who larps as his maid. He wants to save the world, and be a hero! Sometimes, you don’t need to constantly lecture your audience, sometimes you can just make a cool thing for them to enjoy.

Do people really not think a massive part of the hero of Time’s character was loneliness? He went through hell, had to forget every bond he made on his adventure and was sent back to his childhood, and immediately after lost the only living being that experienced it all with him.
