No, this isn’t a postcard. Or a Grandma Moses painting.
This is a photo I took from the Fort Edward Grasslands this week. Yes, it is that pretty. It’s so pastoral, in fact, that people from all over Washington County and beyond travel to this valley to take in its beauty.
It’s this very valley that the Office of Renewable Energy Siting (ORES) is trying to turn into an 1,800 acre solar industrial complex.
This photo is also home to 10 of the 11 top grassland bird species of concern in NY, according to the @NYSDEC. That’s why it’s covered in endangered species signage.
It all used to mean something.
ORES is poised to issue the Fort Edward Solar final permit this month so Boralex, a Canadian renewable corporation, can make their millions.
We need the federal government to intervene in New York State badly.
