Packing thousands of straws together basically creates a low-tech pixel screen. Each straw acts as an independent light pathway, perfectly mimicking how data channels work.

I’m heartbroken right now… no words can describe the pain of losing a podium in Formula 1 and in the streets Monaco, I’m devastated. We crossed the finish line in 3rd today, and thats all I want to remember. I’ve dreamed about that podium thousands times, we all working very hard for years to achieve moments like today and it doesn’t feel right for it to be taken away like this. I really hope the right outcome can be made. We will fight for it with my team.

@Ingleton_ian Like boxing, trials riding and figure skating etc. drifting is a judged sport. A display of car control, scored on criteria set by the organisers. If you don't know the criteria, boxing just looks like people bashing each other.

@Rainmaker1973 I will never understand drifting. The purpose of Motorsport is to get from A to B as fast as possible. Not shag a set of tyres going sideways for no reason.

@congunners Take it up with the Victorian government. MotoGP is the pinnacle of motorcycle racing, facilities at P.I. aren't. P.I. is one of the lowest attended races but Melbourne F1 is one of the highest (about 9 × as many attendees). MotoGP is a sport & a business. Return on investment.

@OsirisRage Pit stop races suck. Overtaking in the pits isn't racing. Yes it's a team sport and pit stops are part of F1 but to try and force a change of position with tyre mandates is really the antithesis of actual racing. Imagine the Olympics if they had to stop and change shoes.

@soverncomfort @IMDSTIG @CroftyF1 Of course it's a race. Actually it's one of my favourites. It just needs a bit of thinking to improve the show naturally. Mandated pitstops, Softer tyres etc. 2022 and 2023 races were excellent.

The issue is not what was agreed before the race. The issue is that people pay to see a race. Not a display. It always leaves a bad taste. But in the next few hours, weeks, years, people will debate the rights and wrongs of this kind of thing. But remember Austria 2002. #f1

@RalphHosier I used to think that about welfare recipients, but then I realised that no matter where or how they spend that money, it ends up in the economy, which is keeping people that work employed. No one without a job is stuffing their mattress with cash.

I don't want a government that takes money from hard working individuals and hands it to idle scroungers. Yet we've had 14 years of it.

@timreay @RalphHosier Frequency of fires isn't the issue, the type of fire with batteries is the issue. Very fast, very intense with extremely toxic smoke & toxic run-off from the fire fighting (that's if the fire fighting is even successful).

@Snafu_7 @RalphHosier @ZEEbusRepower Not specific to EVs. In Rome their buses (diesel) catch fire with alarming regularity. Not sure why.

Converting diesel buses to EV means about 80% of the bus is retained, we're investigating heavily in this area as it allows bus operators to clean up local emissions more readily. I think it's a good thing. @ZEEbusRepower
