Sudanese Politician Accuses Turkey of Pursuing Red Sea Ambitions
Ibrahim Al-Mirghani, member of the Sudan Founding Alliance and former Minister of Communication and Digital Transformation, said Turkey hosts some of the Muslim Brotherhood’s most influential branches worldwide.
He also claimed Ankara views the Red Sea as a strategic zone of influence, arguing that Turkish ambitions in the region trace back to the Ottoman era.

The Republic of Somaliland has been issuing its own biometric passports for decades, and they’re fully functional. While it doesn’t have widespread formal diplomatic recognition, its passports are accepted as valid travel documents by many countries that issue visas, stamps, and allow entry.

A Somalian government official sought support from the Minnesota Somali diaspora for the Al-Shabaab affiliated SSC-Khatumo government. Unregistered Foreign Agent - Mulki Hussien advocated for an immigrant community to support Somalia's war against Somaliland and to not submit to the control of outsiders.
Why this matters - Abdi Madobe is a Commander in the SSC-Khatumo military.
According to the UN Security Council Panel of Experts report (S/2025/777) states: Al-Shabaab “has already deployed fighters into North-East State in 2025 — including 200 operating under the leadership of Abdi Madobe, a long-serving senior commander in the region.”
So why was a foreign-government-linked political message tied to this exact conflict being delivered at a rally in Minneapolis by an unregistered Foreign Agent of Somalia?
This demands straight answers:

Somalia’s Defence Minister labels the opposition in Mogadishu as “foreign agents”, linking them without evidence to the RSF in Sudan!
This is a dangerous escalation in rhetoric from a figure previously removed from the Foreign Ministry, and widely regarded as having a track record of leveraging anti-UAE/Western sentiment for domestic political positioning.
More broadly, the narrative appears to reflect a familiar pattern in Somalia: framing internal political instability through the lens of external conspiracies in order to create a political distraction to the chaos engulfing the failed state.
By negligently invoking the situation in Sudan and actors such as the UAE, attention is shifted away from the more immediate realities on the ground in Mogadishu, where the government continues to face serious governance & security challenges.

As people in Mogadishu slept last night, armed individuals accused of land grabbing raided a small neighborhood known as #BuuloDaa'uud in Mogadishu's Shibis district and began forcibly demolishing houses at around 3:00 a.m. on Sunday.
Residents protested the operation, according to a video we obtained.
In the footage, residents accuse Somali Police @SoPoliceForce Commander Asad Osman and his wife, Mako, as well as Mogadishu Police Commander Moalin Mahdi, a former Al-Shabaab terrorist member, of being behind the demolitions.

Troops aligned with former Somali President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed have expanded their positions in the Mirinaayo And Abdiaziz District following intense clashes with federal government forces, according to local sources.
Witnesses said soldiers in the area were openly chanting slogans against President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud while defending positions held by forces loyal to the former president.
Sources on the ground reported that opposition-aligned troops advanced from Mirinaayo and reached areas near the Sanca junction after gaining control of additional territory during the fighting. Federal government forces were reportedly pushed out of several locations in the neighboring Abdiaziz district.
The clashes are part of a broader escalation in security tensions across northern Mogadishu, where armed confrontations between government forces and opposition-aligned units have continued for hours.
There has been no immediate official statement from the federal government regarding the latest battlefield developments, and independent verification of all claims remains difficult due to the fluid security situation.
