California is spending $100 million on a bridge for animals. San Francisco is spending millions on nonprofits that specialize in Egyptian healing rituals and giving massage therapy to black criminals. It's insanity.

EXCLUSIVE: Gavin Newsom promised to build a bridge for cougars and butterflies in the middle of Los Angeles. The project has turned into another boondoggle, with broken deadlines and costs exploding to $114 million. This is Newsom's bridge to nowhere. city-journal.org/article/califo…

🚨Why is Governor Newsom’s parole board members protecting child predators? A serial child predator is about to be released under California’s elderly parole law, which Governor Newsom signed lowering eligibility to age 50. Now that board is preparing to release Gregory Vogelsang. Here is why he was sentenced to 355 years to life: In 1999, following a jury trial in Sacramento County Superior Court, Vogelsang was convicted on 27 felony counts. These included: • One count of kidnapping a child for the purpose of committing a lewd act (Cal. Penal Code § 207(b)). • One count of lewd act upon a child (Cal. Penal Code § 288(a)). • One count of attempted kidnapping for lewd purposes (Cal. Penal Code §§ 664/207(b)). • One count of attempted lewd act upon a child (Cal. Penal Code §§ 664/288(a)). • Twenty-three counts of lewd acts upon a child with force, violence, duress, menace, or fear (Cal. Penal Code § 288(b)(1)). The jury also found true several sentencing enhancements: • Committing sex offenses against two or more victims (Cal. Penal Code § 667.61(e)(5)). • Engaging in substantial sexual conduct with at least one victim (Cal. Penal Code § 1203.066(a)(8)). • Committing offenses classified as serious felonies (Cal. Penal Code § 1192.7(c)(6)). Vogelsang admitted an allegation rendering him ineligible for parole under Cal. Penal Code § 1203.066(a)(3). He was sentenced to 355 years to life in prison plus an additional four-year determinate term, reflecting the repetitive and predatory nature of his crimes. He deserves to rot in prison.

San Francisco’s “Dream Keeper” program funnels millions to nonprofits for identity-based initiatives—from “Afri-centric therapy” to free doula care for black “birthing people.” It may even violate federal law. Chris Rufo and Haley Strack have the goods: city-journal.org/article/san-fr…

Next, Lurie approved $250,000 to Black Is Still Beautiful, which has provided African ancestry DNA testing and massage therapy to black criminals; and $400,000 to a group that produces black trans films, including one about "black transmen" experiencing "their first pregnancies."

Next, Lurie approved $450,000 for the Transgender District, which was founded by three black trans women and hosts "riot" parties featuring all-black drag queens and instructs attendees to "pay your reparations" to the black community at the door.

Lurie approved $1.1 million for the Homeless Children’s Network, a black racialist organization that provides "Afri-centric, trauma-informed" wellness services. The group specializes in Ma’at healing, which uses ancient Egyptian principles to treat "intergenerational racism."

Former Mayor London Breed launched the "Dream Keeper Initiative" during George Floyd summer, but the program was quickly snared in scandal, with the director under criminal investigation for alleged fraud. Despite campaigning against the initiative, Lurie has quietly revived it.

Just the woman for a job that's needed doing for decades. If you're a Californian who can't stand what your state has become, I strongly recommend supporting Haley's work any way you can (e.g., leads, receipts, and sources).

Excited to join @christopherrufo and @CityJournal's new California team to (hopefully) answer a question the magazine posed years ago: Can California be golden again? Looking forward to uncovering waste, fraud, and abuse in my home state.
