@bitcornd Gasoline in Saudi Arabia is more than $2/litre. Things are “almost free” because the state owns all the oil companies and as a result hardly needs to tax its citizens.
If we tried to do something like that here everyone would scream communism.

@mikeeee27108797 When wealth disparity is high, GDP per capita is a poor measurement of anything except how well rich people & businesses are. Canada ranks better in nearly every metric that makes an average person’s life better. Life expectancy, HDI, health outcomes, happiness, education, etc.

In case you’re against provinces in the West separating, note that New Brunswick has a population under 900k has 10 senate seats while BC and Alberta have populations over 5M and have 6 senate seats.
The West is being systematically railroaded.

@scampycaaz The house is for population representation, the senate has always been about regional representation. Maritimes, Quebec, Ontario, Western, Territories, and Newfoundland tacked on in 1949.
It’s exceedingly hard to change the constitution.
