Today marks the 8 year anniversary of the tragic killing of Lesandro โJuniorโ Guzman-Feliz. ๐๏ธ๐๐พ The 15-year-old was killed by members of the Dominican-American gang Trinitarios in the Belmont neighborhood of the Bronx. The death occurred due to mistaken identification. Public outrage arose when graphic video of the murder began to circulate on the Internet. Fourteen suspects, all members of the Trinitario gang, were arrested in connection with Guzman-Feliz's death. In June 2025, Jonaiki Martinez-Estrella, known to deliver the fatal stab wound to Junior, was found dead in his cell. The cause of death has yet to be determined.

A heartbreaking tragedy: 12-year-old Sarah Niyimbona, a Black girl, died by suicide at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington, in April 2025.
Sarah was receiving psychiatric care and was supposed to be under 24-hour supervision, but she was able to leave her room undetected, walk to a nearby parking structure, and jump. She passed away shortly after.
Following her death, the hospital fired 15 nurses, citing HIPAA violations for improperly accessing her medical records. The nursesโ union claims the firings were retaliatory after staff raised concerns about patient care and staffing levels.
Our hearts go out to Sarahโs family during this unimaginable loss. Rest in peace, sweet girl. ๐๏ธ๐๐ฝ

A 9-year-old boy was building a fort with his friends in Naperville, Illinois. A man came out of his home and allegedly hurled a racial slur at the child, pushed him, and threw his bike. It is horrific that this young king has to experience hate so young. This is why we fight. We are glad to see felony hate crime charges filed. Our children are allowed to play in our communities. Hate has no place in our neighborhoods, our streets, or anywhere near our children.

Tomorrow marks what would have been his 45th birthday. He tragically passed away in 2015 due to a severe allergic reaction during a medical procedure , but his legacy continues to inspire millions.
