@nypost Connor seems to have had a huge amount of excellent emotional mirroring at home. For a guy on the spectrum, there is a surprising emotional depth and courage, despite challenges. He is a great catch and deserves someone equally evolved!

So much depends on the scope of anecdotal evidence.
A few case reports- ok.
Thousands of first-hand accounts are obviously stronger anecdotal evidence.
Those accounts- especially involving otherwise unexpected/unexplained regressions of advanced cancers or other life- saving results, should *not* be discredited by The medical profit machine.
English

@MasalaFry69 @Sturdybrain @lovesanimals22 It offers essentially no predictive value making it translatably worthless. Evidence needs some inherent translatable value.

A patient threw her statin in the trash because of a forum post.
Then she started injecting a compound studied in exactly 14 human beings into her thigh three times a week.
Her CAC score was 280. Her father died of a heart attack at 58.
This is Episode 1 of the Substance Over Noise podcast. 🧵

@MichaelAlbertMD @lovesanimals22 Anecdote *is* evidence; it’s just the lowest tier.

“To be honest” (just be honest)
“To be clear” (just be clear)
“Literally” (just be confident you’re making your point)
“Let’s take this offline” (we can talk more about this later)
“Same” (Me, too/I agree)
“Not gonna lie” (don’t lie)
Saying that something is “giving” this or that when observing or describing something. (Just say is like/reminds me of/is similar to)
The grand freaking prize goes to people who begin answering questions with the word “So” (Don’t be condescending. Just answer the question)

@AdvisorJohn Look literally no further. Suspend disbelief. You can thank me later. Yes, Walmart.

Buying a mattress feels worse than buying a used car. But, my wife and I need one SOOO bad!
I’m looking for suggestions. Some questions we have:
1. I hear of people buying them online, like through Amazon as opposed to going to those run down looking strip mattress stores. Is that the best way to do it?
2. Some have said don’t buy anything nice, just buy a new one every two years. This actually seems smart in a way because I feel like every one I’ve purchased seems to suck around two years.
3. My spare bed queen mattress is awesome. Why does it seem like king size mattresses fall apart faster?
Your recommendations are greatly appreciated!

@lizzkelly7 This is morality 101 and I’m appalled by the number of people advising to keep it.
What is wrong with ppl?
That money is NOT yours in any way. It should 100% be returned to his daughter.
English

I found $23,000 in cash taped under my landlord’s broken washing machine.
He died last week.
Now his daughter is clearing out the building, telling everyone to make sure everything is “disposed of properly.” She has no idea it exists.
No note. No explanation. Just money… hidden like it was never meant to be found.
And now I’m stuck with a question no one prepares you for:
What do you do with something that technically isn’t yours… but no one else even knows is missing?
English

@LadyNimby @JaleneCooke *That* is the change you need to make right away :)
English

@JaleneCooke No I agree entirely I just literally never considered repeating a breakfast more often than every 5 days or so

During a presentation today, I was discussing how to protect inheritances from in-laws, and I used my usual line:
“Clients always tell me, ‘Jenny, I loooove my daughter-in-law, buuuuuuut…’”
Before I could finish, a woman in the audience said, very confidently: “I DON’T!”
And just like that… the whole room got the point.
English

@PopCrave Maybe she and Connor can see ifc they have a connection?
English

@naomirwolf Without insurance, were you ready to self pay for a (God forbid) million +$ illness or accident?
English

I didn’t have health insurance and paid out of pocket and spent less than $1000 on doctors’ visits last year. I did not mind skipping the endless testing. Now I am applying for medical insurance and it’s $1000 A MONTH with a 5k deductible! What?? Last time I had insurance it was half this price. And there really aren’t’choices’. How does anyone afford to function in this system?
English

@Timodc She obviously speaks fluent English, you ass.
She has an accent. My mother, who has lived here for almost 60 years, fluent in English (and in six other languages as well) prior to her arrival- still has an accent.
So what?
English

@HerbsandDirt No.
Flowers in vase somewhere maybe.
Petals in basket- it’s a miss.
