New Jersey’s NJ Transit is currently planning to charge more than $100 for return rail tickets from New York’s Pennsylvania Station to MetLife Stadium for FIFA World Cup games. According to people familiar with the plans, who asked to remain anonymous in order to protect relationships, a return ticket purchased via NJ Transit, New Jersey’s transportation provider, is currently modelled for more than a seven-fold increase from its usual prices during the World Cup this summer. The 18-mile rail journey, which includes a stop at Secaucus station, ordinarily costs $12.90 for a return ticket — the same pricing for the FIFA Club World Cup final last summer. The new special event pricing, however, is due to come into effect for the World Cup and is currently due to be over $100. 📝 @AdamCrafton_ 🔗 nyti.ms/425RIfk

@Ten_Hi @TheAthleticFC Same here! You can travel for a whole month for the same price of ONE group stage game😂 i bet the watch parties in Europe will be better anyway where they actually love and care for the sport.

There’s a restaurant in Castle Rock Colorado that charges a 4% “kitchen gratuity” fee BEFORE tax, and now hundreds of locals are fighting over whether or not it’s justified. Listen, if you can’t pay your cooks, that’s not my problem. 😒

@ManagerTactical They used to fight scalping by printing tickets with the buyer's name on it. With e-tickets came the ability to easily transfer tickets. Most leagues (in USA) have changed tunes entirely and welcome resales because of the commissions. FIFA has taken it to a new level.

FIFA decided to join the scalpers ticket market in the 2026 World Cup 🇺🇸🇲🇽🇨🇦 instead of fighting it… and yes they could have beat the scalpers if they wanted to.

Boston’s World Cup host committee has announced it will be providing a bus service to and from Gillette Stadium during the World Cup — for which they will charge passengers $95 per seat. Earlier this month, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) confirmed it intended to quadruple its usual prices for a round-trip train ticket from the center of Boston to Gillette Stadium during the 2026 World Cup. This hiked a return rail ticket from $20 for NFL games involving the New England Patriots, up to $80 for the 27-mile journey during the World Cup. Now, Boston’s host committee has rolled out a bus service to take fans to the stadium in Foxboro, for an even higher price of $95. As with the train service, there will be no concessionary prices for children, adults over 60 or for passengers with accessibility needs. 📝 @AdamCrafton_ 🔗 nyti.ms/4mwdouz

@TheAthleticFC Reduce down to 6 players, put up walls so the ball doesn't leave play. Almost like a different version of the sport.

"I will reduce from 45 minutes each half to 25 minutes.” Aurelio De Laurentiis, owner of Napoli, believes football will lose the younger generation. But he has ideas. Lots of them, including no red and yellow cards and changing the rules so there are more goals...

🚨 Aurelio De Laurentiis (Napoli owner) is stating that the younger generation is losing interest in football, and has come up with new idea's! • 25 minutes per half, instead of 45. • No acting on the pitch, you LEAVE the pitch immediately. • No red cards and yellow cards: instead, 5 minutes out or 20 minutes out. • More goals are needed to create more spectacle, so more changes to the rules are necessary.
