ONS report the closure of 12,500 industrial businesses in the UK last year. That was a rout, with many going under thanks to penal tax rises and sky high energy prices. Why won't the government change its tax and energy policies to save jobs and boost industry?

There is plenty of oil left in the North Sea with more to be discovered. Why not step UK production up to 1 m b/ day? Average cost £20 a barrel. Current price £70 a barrel. Most of that profit of £18 bn a year would be paid to Treasury as tax. Get on with it.

Why am I donating potatoes? 🥔 Last week I was happy to finally receive the second trade order this season from my merchant. To put it into context, we normally start selling our potatoes around Christmas, and fulfil a weekly order from this point on, moving around 13 tonnes a week. So to have waited 5 months to be able to sell any of my potatoes was a huge relief because although we have had so much support from our local customers and now further a field, we’re still limited to what I can deliver in my truck and through the post, and this has been putting a huge financial strain on our business. Collection day came and the buyer cancelled. So I’m left with 12.5 tonnes of potatoes bagged and ready to go, with no way of selling that volume through my local and postal channels. Because they have been bagged and out of the store, they now have a limited time (around 2-3 weeks) before they will start to soften or sprout (if left in the bags). The alternative is having to open every bag (500 of them), re-box them to go back into the store and hope for the best, or I will have to dump them. This year has been devastating for me and so many farmers. We plan our crops more than a year in advance and couldn’t have predicted how badly the potato market would fail. I am trying my best to stay positive and adapt, but the pressure is crushing. So this brings me to my post earlier. Out of my disappointment, I want to do something good and donate these potatoes to genuine charities and organisations who I hope can distribute them to people in need. Lots of people have commented on my previous post, but in order to get these to the right people I need you to email me at farmerlukeshop@gmail.com so we can manage the requests without them getting lost in the comments. Thank you to those who have already reached out. These potatoes are not being given away to be re-sold or planted (due to seed regulations) I just want to put some kindness out in the world. Thank you to everyone for your support, You can order your posted potatoes now at: farmerluke.co.uk 🥔📮 #FarmerLuke #DownOnDaintreeFarm #Mrsfarmerluke #spudwife

🚨Labour MP Tom Hayes is a serial disgrace. The same clown caught stealing election leaflets from voters’ letterboxes is the one gaslighting Camilla Tominey on GB News to defend Keir Starmer. Lying hypocrite exposed. Labour’s rotten to the core.
