@The4thGenGamer @BigUkena is it the only reason for price increases? no, of course not. but it is certainly a factor and will continue to be if it goes unchecked.

i hate that everything i like becomes more and more inaccessible to me because people want to make money off it.

@MicahTheBrave @BigUkena From my experience and industry knowledge that is just a false claim- if you disagree, that is fine, but "agreeing to disagree" on the importance and not the premise is a bit ridiculous to me

@MicahTheBrave @BigUkena And just to be clear- I am on your guys' side; scalping sucks, and investor bros getting into hobbies just for the money is lame as hell But it's so important to call it out accurately, otherwise ppl won't take it seriously when it's ACTUALLY happening

@MicahTheBrave @BigUkena Are there people flipping them online from garage sales, thrift stores, etc? Sure, but that's not scalping or pumping nor is it widespread, that's flipping and has always been around with anything collectiable

@MicahTheBrave @BigUkena The idea of asking price (organically) slowly going up and people paying that price is just a market trend of supply not meeting demand I would bet you that if we come back to this in 10 months, we will see the market cool down a bit, just like it did 2023 into 2024

@MicahTheBrave @BigUkena When you compare it to Pokémon cards, people's living rooms are filled with cards and cutting off supply meant for the public- that is what scalping looks like

@MicahTheBrave @BigUkena The only reason I'm pushing back on this is because it's a classic example of social media encouraging sensationalized headlines Worst case outlook on this is that New 3DS XL systems have seen a 10% uptick in market value in the last few months, only slightly higher than 2023

@MicahTheBrave @BigUkena These are just from the last few days, sold listings under $250 which is what these systems have been going for since 2020 People can ask any amount they want but if people aren't paying it, that just isn't market value
