Bishop Ireton has named Chris Wright as their new head basketball coach. A former St. John’s (DC) & Georgetown standout point guard, Wright gets his first opportunity as a head coach in the WCAC. Currently coaching @dcassaulthoops 17s, he’ll bring plenty of knowledge from his lengthy professional career + the experience he’s had over the last couple of years.

‘26 DeMatha G Ashton ‘Ace’ Meeks has committed to James Madison. The Dukes get one of the best available DMV prospects in the 2026 class as Meeks comes with a unique, killer mentality in the form of buckets in bunches. Tenacious competitor & one who will find a way to impact from day one.

Villanova transfer Zion Stanford has committed to Towson, per source. The 6’6” junior spent his first two seasons at Temple where he averaged 13.1PPG, 4.5RPG & 2.1APG as a sophomore. Huge get for HC Pat Skerry & staff as Stanford should be an immediate force in the CAA.

Pair of 15u standouts for @dcassaulthoops in ‘28 wings Jaylen Valez and Jayden Mason Valez lit it up from beyond the arc, got to the rim at will, and made the extra pass once his shooting gravity began to force harder closeouts. Mason dynamic physical skills as an agile wing that finished above the rim were on display, impressing also on the other end as a versatile defender for DC Assault that could force stops at all 3 levels

Man oh man what a performance from ‘27 @dcassaulthoops G @zaywitdathree Lockhart came off the bench and went 6/6 from 3 for 21 points in a 5:30 stretch to close the game for his team, hitting movement threes off of staggers or off the catch from the corners to space the floor in a close out win for his team

Liked what I saw from Team XL’s Hugh Lee playing up with the program’s 16u squad. In his first game of the day, Lee showed his ability to run the show as a lead guard that doesn’t get sped up and is comfortable diming to teammates with or without a ball screen. He then hit a dagger 3 down the stretch through contact en route to a 17-point performance to win the game for his XL team

Loved the shifty scoring craft on display today from Takoma Select G Josh Smith Smith had a great second half as a primary scorer and playmaker that got to his spots in the halfcourt to raise up for a jumper or draw two to create for perimeter shooters or his bigs in the short roll

Standout performance from ‘29 C2K The Program guard Jayden Porter Great positional size, scoring ability made that much more dangerous because of his ability to find teammates off the bounce both in the halfcourt and in transition. Shifty, crafty driver that scored pretty effortlessly from all 3 levels
