Een links progressieve reflex die altijd weer zoekt naar de pijn van de dader, de achterstand van de dader, de jeugd van de dader. Maar een slachtoffer heeft niets aan sociologie terwijl zijn vernedering rondgaat op Snapchat. Wie daders vooral blijft behandelen als hulpvraag, moet niet verbaasd zijn dat slachtoffers zich door de overheid in de steek gelaten voelen. Een lik op stuk beleid is niet blind straffen. Het is duidelijkheid. Snelheid. Onontkoombaarheid. Wie dit doet, verliest direct privileges. Vrijheid. Toegang tot platforms. En ja, desnoods directe gesloten plaatsing. Niet maanden later, maar meteen. Want dit is geen fase. Dit is gedrag dat escaleert zolang het loont. En laten we eerlijk zijn, het loont nu. Je krijgt aandacht. Status. Je video gaat rond. De straf komt later, misschien, en voelt ver weg. Daar moet de klap zitten. Niet alleen juridisch, maar ook sociaal. Schaamte terugbrengen waar nu trots zit. Grenzen zichtbaar maken waar ze zijn verdwenen. Want als een twaalfjarige al denkt in aanslagen en een vijftienjarige iemand op de knieën dwingt voor een filmpje, dan hebben we niet te maken met ontspoorde jeugd, maar met een samenleving die haar grenzen niet meer handhaaft.
