@bscholl I'll fly to KMHV this weekend. (My friend has to build multi engine time.) Now I've seen XB-1 will be moved to the HQ in Denver. Is there any chance she's still around and we could take a look this Saturday? Thanks, Blake!!

XB-1 team is on their way back to Mojave. We are starting the New Year with some maintenance, followed by Flight Eleven targeted for end of next week. If all goes according to plan, Eleven will be the last (all) subsonic flight. But we might also need one more.

Just a reminder: Impact probability ALWAYS goes up when new observations come in. Until it suddenly drops to zero.

I never got in XB-1 before because I didn’t want to be the CEO who ruined the safety culture by pretending the rules didn’t apply to me. But now that XB-1 is done and no longer safety-critical I climbed in and flipped switches like a toddler in a children’s museum.

The airspace around Vandenberg is surprisingly permissive, allowing air traffic to get as close as ~6 miles to the launch pad. The map also shows nicely how the rocket's trajectory is protected.

It was a fun little side project. The main findings are: - Weekends are chill - Morning traffic is mostly between 6:40am and 10am - Drive home after 7pm (that’s easy :P) - Mon & Fri are less intense - Afternoon traffic picks up surprisingly early at 2pm and peaks around 5pm
