A Colorado jury convicted her on seven counts. A judge sentenced her to nine years. The governor of Colorado does not control criminal sentencing. That is not how courts work anywhere in the United States. Trump’s post says she is imprisoned by “a Democrat Governor, Jared Polis, and a corrupt political machine, for exposing fraud by the Democrats during the 2020 Presidential Election.” No court ever validated her fraud claims. The conviction is for what she did to election equipment, not for what she claimed to have found. The sentence came through standard judicial procedure that has nothing to do with the governor’s office. The president is now calling for the release of a public official convicted by a jury of her peers for tampering with election security infrastructure. The same week he is demanding the SAVE America Act to protect election integrity. Those two things cannot both be true at once.

Pretty wild that Trump just appointed JD Vance as a Fraud Czar to go after scammers right after he pardoned his 35th different wealthy crony convicted of fraud so far during this term with many more to come.
