@BigEastBarroom The problem is St. John's played well enough and dominated their league enough to not have to play the Top seeded team in the country in the sweet 16. They got screwed while UConn was gifted a 2 seed for no damn reason.

The fact the committee put UConn and St. John's in the East Region is just another slap in the face to the Big East. On top of that, they ship the Big East Regular Season and Tournament Champs to San Diego and then potentially back to Washington D.C. #NoRespect

@UConnTim @StJohnsShirtGuy Baylor was neutral site top 50 NET. Not our fault Ole Miss was not as good as usual this year. At least we didn't have 2 losses to teams that were worse than 80 NET including losing as 17 point favorite to Creighton at home. Do bad losses not matter?

I appreciate St. John’s fans recognizing the significance of UConn in their lives, but win a single meaningful non-conference game if you want a protected seed.

Just to confirm I am understanding things here…Saint John’s was ranked #13 in the country, then ran through the entire Big East Tournament dominating everyone along the way, including a beatdown of #6 UCONN, and they are now seeded as a team that is somewhere between 17-20???

@mainestudent @MuffetMcGraw I never once said they strictly follow the S-curve. They can’t, as I have explained. But they do use it to try to create balance. This is the sum of the overall seed for the top 4 in each region.

These are the NCAA’s bracketing principles. Key part highlighted. Vandy, LSU, SC and Texas had to be separated. LSU is 5 on the seed list. They won’t put the top 2 with the top 1. Had to be Vandy.

@UConnTim @MuffetMcGraw Why so tho… the committee protects them from the first two rounds after that is whatever, Vandy is not an 8. U has to look deeper in the tournament, okay so conference doesn’t play in the first two games after that you can help it. But given Vandy an 8 is disrespectful.

@mainestudent @MuffetMcGraw Everything you’re saying is nonsensical. SC and Texas met in the Final Four, not a regional. There are five protected seeds from the SEC. The fifth had to go somewhere, so OU went with the lowest 1 seed. Vandy is not 8. They’re 7. But they could only end up with UConn.

@mainestudent @MuffetMcGraw Vandy is not the lowest 2-seed, but they were the only possible 2-seed we could be bracketed with. If a conference has four-plus protected seeds (1-4), the four highest need to be separated. That’s also why Ohio State could only be in our region.
