Mann.. it’s pretty heart breaking even having to write this. It just doesn’t feel real. We lost our boy Nixon yesterday. - I first off just want to say thank you to him, he came into my life when I was alone, when I didn’t know I needed a companion. We spent every day together for about 14 years. We were bonded through and through, that guy would light up a room when he walked in waggin his little nub of a tail. He met and made so many people smile and happy this life. Him and I lived a long adventurous life together. He taught me patience, compassion, companionship, love and so many other things that I’m just coming to realize now. To some he was just a dog but to me he was my son and my guardian Angel He brought Kaycee, Bumi, Momo and Starlord (our cats) closer together than we could’ve ever imagined. He would bring all the cats in the room whenever we sat down to let them know we were home, he really was an amazing soul. He doesn’t really feel gone yet and I know some parts of him will always be here with us. If you ever got to meet him, I hope you comment your memory underneath this post so I can remember those times as well. Man, I really can’t stop crying writing this but this is another way for me to grieve and to grow for myself. I was trying to prepare my self for this day over the last year but in reality it all happened so fast and still doesn’t feel real. I walked down the hallways this morning expecting to see him. I urge you all that do have pets to get their brains and bodies scanned regularly, he never showed any signs of this and they said most don’t. For those wondering what happened: Yesterday I woke up, I walked Nixon, fell back asleep and then was woken up to Kaycee telling me Nixon had used the restroom on himself, to what we know now this was him having his first stroke. We took him to the emergency hospital, only for him to have another stroke while we were there waiting for him to be seen. The Doc said she lost her pup at 13 the exact same way. Sometimes it’s just to far down the road when it happens to save them. The Veterinarian told us his life would be extremely rocky and rough from here on out especially since he couldn’t really use his back legs, so we made the hardest decision we’ve had to make in a long time. He went peacefully, he still kept the grin on his face on the way out. We love you Nixon, we hope you’re pain free now and that you get to enjoy the rest of your days ❤️
