@SwedishRumble In the past, we haven't really been good in creating options and leverage for ourselves in these discussions around transfer. We spend too much time on our key targets and don't seem to have options to pivot, so either we do at what they ask or don't, like Maguire, Sancho ...

I will make a more comprehensive post on this later — but signing Ederson has the added benefit that it improves our negotiation position in relation to other midfield targets. Simply — negotiations are extremely simple. They are all about ”leverage”. Hence, negotiations are all about selecting when you negotiate and the position you are in when you negotiate. We will never get good deals for Ugarte and Onana because we have zero leverage. We are in a much better position to negotiate a decent deal for Matheus Fernandes because West Ham got relegated which gives us leverage. To be able to enter negotiations when it suits you — you need time and flexibility. We never have either. Newcastle were in a horrible position leverage-wise when they signed Woltemade and Wissa. They had ran out of time. Without Ederson or our first CM signing — pannick is around the corner. The summer will fly by with the World Cup. Any selling club can stall a transfer which just will put more pressure on United. Everyone will try to push us into the same corner Newcastle ended up in last summer. Get in Ederson and Fernandes and everyone wanting to go to MUFC will have to start to think of things from a fear of missing out perspective. From a Tchoumani POV, we have 3 midfielders to sign. He can take his time. If Fernandes and Ederson get done — it’s 1 spot and all it takes is another deal to get done and the door is shut. In this context —

🚨 Man Utd's plan to sign a marquee midfielder is not expected to be altered by Ederson's potential arrival. Chiefs at Old Trafford have earmarked significant investment to sign a successor to Casemiro. [@StevenRailston] #MUFC

So many United legends just disappoint you as time goes on. It's so lovely to see guys like Rooney stay supportive and do their best to make the club better, rather than seeming bitter to those trying to restore its glory.

Barcelona set for talks this week with Manchester United to try and agree a deal for Marcus Rashford. Rashford has terms in place and is waiting for a club-to-club solution. #MUFC have consistently told Barcelona to pay the €30m clause.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 talksport.com/football/42834…

Carragher is a tremendous asset for Liverpool. Post career is he running eights around Gary ’I want to be a politician’ Neville and co. Liverpool is keeping Arne Slot, so let’s make the story about United. When a rival club gets a manager who comes in and show promise — he will from day 1 try to undermine that manager. Yet — Slot, nah, give him time. Thing is — Carragher is smart. It is — braindead — to sack Arne Slot right now. It’s something the Glazers, Jimmie R and Wilcox could do. Liverpool is in a big transition. Let’s say you sack Slot now, they sign Iraola, he spends time steering the team in his direction — and they get a crappy start. Can easily happen. Does Iraola last a year? You get into a vicious circle. You should in most situations only change manager in very stable conditions. It’s too tough in the PL to bring in a new manager to a XI with flaws, turmoil in the dressing room, transition period on the pitch and what not. The only thing that baffles me is that anyone take Carragher serious when he starts with his nonsense.

@TeleFootball @Carra23 Guardiola already tired after 10 seasons and scratching his head until bleeding while SAF coached three different generations to success over 20 years at United, only retired because his wife needed him. He didn’t have the wealth of the country backing him either.

🚨EXCL: #MUFC believe Mateus Fernandes is giving them priority over other clubs following talks with his reps. 21 yo is high on the shortlist with Carrick and data team rating him highly too. Deal dependant on #WHU asking fee + PL situation. @UtdDistrict roundtable.io/sports/soccer/…

Ederson - Very real target, but United will be looking for less than some of the prices coming out of Italy claiming agreement is done. Still, with club talks on, and the player side settled, this one is moving forwards. Further approaches to Brighton & West Ham expected following the weekend. muppetiers-tracker.netlify.app/.netlify/funct…

@CuttheBull1234 @SwedishRumble why do you think we have financial advantage? Could it be because we have a huge fan base and following? Because of our success in the past and history? We haven't been bankrolled by anyone especially not our owners. We grew organically, that is the difference !

@SwedishRumble Hold up. We have a Man U fan talking about financial advantage. Fucking hell. Your clubs entire success was based on financial advantage, and for many years nicking the best players off your rivals. Show me all the times you argued against this when it came to Man U?

So Villa didn’t have the financial upper hand vs Freiburg since they spent about the same on transfers? Well, Aston Villa spent £272m on wages (24/25) and Freiburg spent £76m (23/24). Can we stop acting like looking at transfer fees or ”net transfer spend” in isolation mean something?
E@Ellis_

Villa spent €36m in the summer just gone & Freiburg spent €32m 7 players that started for Villa tonight were already at the club when Emery arrived and were in a relegation battle. One thing we’re not going to do is act like Villa bought this Europa League title.

@SwedishRumble The media doesn't really help because they are always just highlighting the spend but I also don't expect sport journalists to be financially literate. Investment in players is much more than just transfer fee, there are agent fees, sign on bonus, ongoing compensation etc.
