@Picketer All I can think is that when they are finished all of the sections, they are going to come back and put another couple of inches on the entire street.

@colesamanda Academia is a team sport, but so many people only think of it as individualistic.
My wife was working on a PhD, but abandoned it when a number of articles and industry reports came from the team without including her or acknowledging her work.

@s_palm I wish I had known you were there. It would have been great to meet.

@Wayne_Read @Deakin Saw a couple of good reports on your presentation.👍

@_BonnieDean Thanks Bonnie.
I don’t know how many times I have read your work on the @UOW WIL framework as we think about what WIL means to the @DeakinBusiness school, but your presentation really brought the framework to life.

@Wayne_Read @Deakin It was wonderful to finally meet you in person @Wayne_Read. I watched your presentation with interest and have also heard good feedback on the important work your team is doing. See you back online soon ☺️

Great to see the work of Srikar and the first round of graduates emerge from this program.
Well done to Sameer, the team at ManuFutures, and broader @Deakin teams involved in getting this program going. Bigger things are coming.

Taking a break from talking to parents and future students at the #DeakinOpenDay. Plenty of great reasons to study with the @DeakinBusiness at the waterfront. Having this view everyday is just a bonus.

@s_palm Thanks for taking the time to share all of this. I am just looking at similar information for B&L.

@marjoriemccrory Thanks for the thread. This very much speaks to my style of teaching. I have always found a career foucus has really helped student engagement because it makes the value of the course/unit explicit.

@BlumJordan @73yearstoolong Fisher Price (owned by Mattel) have imaginext which look like softened versions of Dino-Riders and fit with their other sets (like Batman and Jurassic world). Have been very tempted to get these for my kids.

I agree with @DrGiesler, I have taught online seminars at @DeakinBusiness for a decade. I never expected video (or even audio) presence in seminars. Yes, broadband & tech have improved, but why do some people continue to equate visual presence as engagement?

@phillipdawson Untitled fourth effort sounds like a good option. But by the time lockdowns end and you can perform, the movie might have a title you can use.

Back in May my improv team Roo-Jitsu had a show booked! One of our team members, Aileen Ng (aileenng.com.au), is an awesome graphic designer so she made this Matrix-themed promo. Our show was cancelled due to covid lockdown, so...

@s_palm Great questions.
In the past we had a lot of non business students in our B&L WIL programs. It was great for everyone. I have had a couple of meeting lately looking to find more collaborative WIL projects.

Great reminder for academics moving between cloud and on-campus teaching not to push students to have cameras on for your own comfort. A visual on your screen does not necessarily mean more engagement, and a lack of visual does not equal disengagement.

🔶Why #students have #cameras #off? 🔶Why #educators like to have cameras on? 🔶And, importantly, do we really need to have cameras on? Important questions for next semester. Tnx @LindsayMasland for the visual. cae.appstate.edu/sites/default/… #sydteach2021 @USYD_BCD @DewaWardak #edtech

@s_palm @DeakinBusiness Thanks for the prompt @s_palm. There were a few research topics discussed when the project started. I will definitely have to dust them off.
English

@Wayne_Read @DeakinBusiness There is a sorely needed research project going begging based on the experiences of the large number of Deakin Business WIL students involved in the Ascend project.

Glad to have helped get @DeakinBusiness WIL students involved in this project consistently over the last couple of years. I am looking forward to seeing the car hit the road in the future.

Throughout 2020 the #ascendteam has welcomed 350 students across 4 faculties at Deakin University. See how each faculty is helping to make the project possible! #ascendtoaction #collaboration #innovation #elevation

@IAmPaulHarrison We have it on a regular basis, generally fairly healthy. Depends on the mix in options we put out for the kids. But the family loves it.

@ProfConsumers @Macquarie_Uni Congrats. I really enjoyed this paper. My PhD was on CE and I cited your paper to support ideas, and especially as a counter to some of the other engagement literature. Thank you.

I am so surprised to read that the Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice has ranked my article ‘The Process of customer engagement: a conceptual framework’ as the #1 most influential of 2005-2009 based on citation + impact + the third most cited to 2020 #retail @Macquarie_Uni
