I am sad to have to tell you that Paul Tapponnier passed away on Dec 24 in Beijing. With Peter Molnar he was the father of indentation tectonics / extrusion processes in Asia. I had the joy and pleasure of working with him in many Asian countries. Here 👇 in Myanmar

@NickADobos @skirano @imrat @OpenAI @NomadList I think chat numbers simply count "new chats", when set in publish to "only people with link" and "public". I'm building and sharing some (not ready to be shared yet ☺️) and the (very very small) numbers are higher in those that I use most

@vanHinsbergen Typesetting/proof-reading widens the breath of research and the understanding on its formal dissemination. Key PhDs skills, I'd argue. It should be paid. So should be reviewing/editing, for scientist salaries are v different by level/geography, and not all contribute as much.
