I had got hired for a job in NYC back in 2015 & I asked the HR director about “company parking” she laughed & said monthly parking spots start at $900/month & get more expensive the closer you get to manhattan. That same day I changed my apartment search filter to New Jersey 😭😭

I’ll say this about LA - it is VERY car centric but the city adapts to it. Almost every date night restaurant has valet service, in most areas there are reasonably priced garages or even free ones. NYC has none of that. Street parking and God bless lol.
