This weekend’s escalation in the Middle East is a reckless breach of international law with consequences far beyond the region. The US and Israel’s attacks on Iran undermine the rules‑based order, and the silence of many Western leaders at this moment is deeply alarming.

Happy Black History Month! For 100 years, each February we’ve celebrated the Black folks who've shaped our nation and fought for our freedoms. As we reflect on how far we've come, we can't lose sight of the work that remains. The dreams of our ancestors depend on all of us carrying on their work and refusing to be deterred. That's what Black history is all about: the enduring hope, joy, resilience and resistance—truths that resonate as powerfully today as ever before.

We are in a dangerous place as a nation when members of the press are taken into custody for exercising their First Amendment right to a free press, while federal agents kill with impunity. The arrests of journalists Don Lemon, Trahern Jeen Crews, Georgia Fort, and Jamael Lydell Lundy, as dictated by the current presidential administration, should alarm us all. We must not look away or be dismissive. This is serious, and I am calling everyone to a higher state of consciousness and awareness of where we are.
