Today, we remember the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust, and all victims of the Nazi regime and of genocides throughout history. As we mark Holocaust Memorial Day, we honour those who were lost, and we recommit to building a brighter future.

As someone who ignored the home testing kit sent to me by the NHS - and only took action when they sent out a second kit two years later, my advice is simple. Don’t be like John! As a consequence of a colonoscopy - recommended after results of the home testing- I have recently had a follow up CT colonoscopy to determine treatment for a large stricture identified in the first procedure. Now awaiting follow up appointment with the excellent teams at Hinchingbroke and Peterborough hospitals to learn their treatment recommendations. It is good news that bowel cancer screening remains one of many NHS priorities but equally important is the need to act when offered this test. As I stated earlier- don’t be like John

There is a humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Hundreds of thousands lack food, shelter and sanitation while aid is held at the border. This is unforgivable. Restrictions must be lifted, crossings opened and NGOs allowed to work. The UK will do all it can to end this suffering.

Even at this late stage, opposition Lords are STILL voting to water down key measures in the Employment Rights Bill - risking delaying key new rights like access to Statutory Sick Pay from Day One. Today, we remember all those who have lost their lives to HIV-AIDS. On World AIDS Day 2025, our Labour government is launching a new HIV Action Plan, backed by £170m of funding. We will end new HIV transmissions by 2030.
