once you start insulting, threatening, calling down punishment, pushing for real life detrimental action, telling people to self-harm, *then* I'm bothered, but that's outside the realm of *just* feelings.

look I just do not care how people *feel* about fictional ships of any kind as long as they remain feelings and are not hurting real people. sorry, but I just don't have the time, energy, or mental capacity to litigate what's going on in someone's head.

especially in smut, which, lbr, is what most of this discourse is actually about, which is why it's funny when people are like "it's about putting women in your fanfic!!" okay where am I putting the women in the bed and do they really want to be there.

some people are getting heated in the QRTS so: by "hate m/m" I do in fact mean that some people will, for their own reasons, not enjoy fictional content about m/m to the point of avoiding it, and I will take that as a personal preference and move on.

your reminder that you are absolutely allowed to hate m/m but you still don't get to call the shippers misogynist or imply that they need to *stop* writing fic just because the numbers on AO3 aren't what you want them to be

@gfviktor character limit issues. some people do not like m/m fic, for their own reasons. I don't know those reasons, so I'm not about to judge people for preferences in their fictional content.

the only way censorship can succeed is if it's done with the biggest brush possible, because to allow any exceptions allows thought and discussion on the topic, and that's the last thing censors want because then you might start questioning the censorship

you might not have known this is what you wanted, but this is what you wanted. now everything is safe and no-one can be hurt by fictional content- as decided by conservatives and radfems, which is exactly what people were warning you would happen

to be momentarily bitter, I sure hope all those "secret third thing" adults with a job are looking forward to all the inconvenience and censorship of an internet made safe for kids by assuming literally no-one can be trusted with fictional content for adults

Op has long been revealed to be a predator, btw (I'll link a tweet about that below). Also I knew this art style looked familiar. Op keeps making the same argument about fandom & shipping. Like literally keeps making this same comic. It's very strange.

plus the implication is that consent and autonomy are sometimes optional, drives me up the wall. I do not want consent to be treated as optional, thanks. what even are rapists gonna learn, that they were correct to think consent is irrelevant?

yes I am insufferable and preaching to the choir but man, I'm already depressed and the future of any art is looking kinda bleakly like "eventually we'll just even skip the facade and all entertainment will be An AI-Generated Conglomerate Synopsis"

and the artist becomes pointless- which is a feature, not a bug, because techbros don't like it when people have values that are not Technological Progress At All Costs

the end result of treating art as a kind of cultural commodity is that the art itself and engaging with art becomes worthless. All that's left is the bite-size trivia and the financial value.
