Wonderful to attend today's celebration event with our partners @weareplatfform and @savechildrencym at the beautiful Newport Market. The Bettws Early Learning Partnerships’ Embrace Project is an inspirational example of a community-led, trauma-informed, whole family mental health initiative.

We’re relieved to see Housing Support Grant lifted in Welsh Gov’s 25-26 draft budget. But it’s unclear how much of the new NHS funding goes to mental health, and social housing funding falls far short. Services will also feel the strain of NI rises.

As we wait for the @WelshGovernment draft budget, we're looking for hope – and our response (below) outlines what we are hoping for.
But for Senedd members also waiting, we wanted to raise particular attention to the NI changes by the UK Government. 🧵

🙋🏿In social care, housing, and homelessness, strong relationships are key. Supporting people through trauma isn’t about fixing—it’s about listening, understanding, and being there.

Thank you to Jodie & Rachel @weareplatfform and Jake @macukcharity for coming to speak at our event last night about the vital work they are doing to support people facing homelessness and mental ill-health.
We know that these issues often go hand-in-hand - that's why we fund these essential projects.

A rise in National Insurance risks charities facing insurmountable costs. For us, it would mean an extra £250k a year – difficult to afford as we work to continue supporting 13k people facing tough times.
The preventative work of charities saves money.

“I felt less alone and ashamed.”
We’re delighted to launch Seibiant Sanctuary today, alongside @CV_UHB. It's Cardiff and the Vale's first community-based alternative to A&E when someone’s facing a mental health crisis.

Today, the world can feel very divided, and like it’s easy to see the lines that we may stand either side of.
But if we’re curious about what’s beyond badges we wear and the labels we give, we may find more to
connect with.
Look for the helpers.

Mental health will always require more than just one day – it’s at the root of our lives, our communities and our world. But today is a good chance to highlight workplace wellbeing – we spend much of our time at work, so what happens there matters.
